Is there a way to date your Shasta using the VIN number? We don't have a title, just a bill of sale. Thanks

To my knowledge there isn't a way to date a Shasta via the VIN. Although I could be wrong.
Was it ever registered before? Maybe you could check with the DMV to see if that VIN was ever registered and find out a exact date that way?

Certainly the vin numbers were not random, seems like they would at least be numerical. If so, we could at least narrow it down and get close to a year model.

You can get close but not exact. The VIN was actually assigned to the trailer frame. Each frame is assigned a letter depicting which plant it was manufactured at. Example: My VIN starts with a V which indicates it was built at the Goshen, IN plant. The numbers which follow is the sequence # to that size frame. So..if they were building two different models which used a '14 frame then you could have two different models with the VIN # being in sequence. There are two databases online that I am aware of where you can see where your VIN falls. These are not perfect but the only resource that I have came across which can help identify the year your trailer was made based on the VIN.

As I have found, the original mirrors (if you have one), have year stamps on the back of them sometimes.

I was told that on the bottom of the simk is a date stamp. I checked and sure enough. I dont know if this is a viable way to date your unit, but its better than a guess!

HI... I was able to find the dates on the back of the mirror, under the sink and the tag on the bunk tri fold mattress was stamped too. they all were with in a couple months of each other. All 1966 even though It was just sold to me as a 1964... I now very confident it is a "66" good luck...

Has anyone ever asked the National Museum in Elkhart that is supposed to have the best research center if they have any kind of Shasta VIN database?
