Randy I cleaned them by using a fine wire brush wheel. It worked good with my variable speed drill. You dont need much pressure and you can get into all the nooks and crannies.

Sandpaper, steel wool and Mother's. Then, a buffing wheel in a drill. Mirror shine. Lots of hours involved. If you just want them cleaned without shine, the wire brush above gives you a nice brushed aluminum look.

You have to drill your own holes in that VTS stuff but it is cheap. If you want 8 foot lengths with holes pre-drilled you can order from So Cal Teardrops here in CA. They ship... I buy mine there. www.socalteardrops.com/parts.php?cid=2&pid=28

Oh wow! That is a very important distinction. Thanks! I think I love you. I also have a video on how to shape and install new J rail if you are interested. This is the tutorial for the Deville I did last year. But it's all the same. www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDRBapymAvEAnd this is some of the J rail and Awning rail installation on the Shasta www.youtube.com/watch?v=WR75nefBQ5UBetween the two you should be able to figure it out.
