I realize it would be costly, but in an effort to make a compact lighter, do you think it would be feasible to use aluminum studs/stock instead of wood for structural repair/replacement? Curious on your thoughts...

I don't know where you might suitable ali studs but all the big trailers like Airstream and Spartan use aluminum framing and rivet the skins to that.

Because of the thickness required, I don't know if standard studs would work. It would take several inches off your inside dimensions. Then again, there would be more room for insulation.
I'm currently looking into aluminum framing as well, but plan on using rectangular tube stock and angles. We have a Compact, so we don't have a lot of space to spare. There are a lot of online retailers that sell standard shapes and sizes but I think shipping would kill you. We just found a local supplier so I think that is our current plan.
