I have been wanting to get started with the Airflyte restoration but didn't want to break into it without adequate protection from the elements. We have a three-car garage and I had planned on putting it into the double bay. I knew I couldn't get it under our standard height garage door so I came up with a workaround. The trailer has 15" rims on it with 215 tires. I talked to a local tire shop and asked if they had any junk 13-14" rims and lower profile tires with a 5 x 4.5 bolt pattern. As luck would have it, one came up with a 14" rim with 175 tires and charged me $40.00 for his time to mount them up. I threw them on the trailer and slowly worked my way into the garage. I was still a little shy so I let all of the air our of the tires. Worked like a charm and it's now sitting in the garage with the junk tires reinflated. The $40.00 was well worth it to me so that I can work in the comfort of dryness and heat....and in easy reach of my tools. Thought I would throw this up here in case anyone else runs into the garage door height dilemma. Brent Attachments:

Nice Brent. I wish I had a garage that big... hell I wish I had a garage period. Brian

I was sitting here today musing about the illustration I saw recently, maybe in the Scottie thread on TCT where they provided a flat edged rim so you could put them on and get the camper into the garage...then I wondered about all those little "emergency" tires that were like little donuts that would allow you to limp into a tire store if you had a flat, and wondered if those could be matched up to different lug patterns and used to slide a small camper into a garage. I might experiment with a set, gotta be super cheap at our local U-pull-it place, heck no one ever used them so the rubber should be good if the pattern matches up.

I put about 10,000 miles on a doughnut tire once, on an '86 Escort.
