This is something new to me. I never thought of an RV park as a resort before but this is a really nice park! They have many (many) RV pull-thru sites, improved spaces with full amenities, showers a convenience store, cabins you can book for the night, a kid's playground and (I believe) a new swimming pool.
The park was washed away in the 2004 floods and had to be rebuilt, so it's more or less new. It backs up to the Virgin River, which is about 2-5ft deep at any given time. You can also rent horses at a ranch across the road. Virgin sits maybe 15mis from Springdale, UT to the N/E and 5mi's to LaVerkin on the S/W. Access through 15fwy, Touqerville Exit, 10 miles to SR9. go up the steep hill, it's on the rt. about 4mi's ahead. Buy provisions before you head up the hill, in either LaVerkin at (expensive store - Farmer's Market) or continue on 3mil's to Lin's Market in Hurricane (much cheaper and more typical). There's also McDonalds, RV supply dealers (Nielsons and ACE Hardware) and an Urgent Care in Hurricane.
From Arches Natl. Park, or AZ/ Grand Cyn (maybe 100 miles away) you go through Kanab, UT. and cross through Zion National Park. There's a tunnel in the park that requires escort for the larger RV's. Check on whether or not you can fit through the tunnel before going.
In Springdale...the border town for the park... there's many Indian motif tourist stores, an IMAX theater and a few gourmet restaurants...Oscars has the best hamburgers you've probably ever tried and you can sit outdoors, wearing flip-flops, and sample a local micro-brewery's seasonal offerings. There's a coffee house called The Mean Bean (open seasonally), or Pioneer Motel's espresso shop will work too, all year long. The Bit 'n Spur Inn takes reservations and serves a higher priced tex-mex food, with the best Cadillac Margarita's! Be sure to sit on the covered patio!
Springdale has a Saturday morning produce market and also an apple orchard store (that's ridiculously overpriced!). It's sorta quietly considered an 'anything goes town' and you'll see everything from Japanese tour buses to an annual gay pride event. Check the city calendar before you go.
There's a 1% crime rate in this section of Washington County, making it a great choice for families. Be careful of speed traps around the Resort though...serious speed traps there.
If you wind up needing a mechanic in this area; go to Roadrunner's Muffler and Tire in LaVerkin. Even when I was from Los Angeles I'd have my scheduled maintenance done by those guys...honest and won't mess with you if you have an out of state plate. Tell them a local sent you by!
