Just another curious question. The photos I've seen don't show the metal "Shasta" emblems on the older (canned ham) Compacts. Did they not start putting those on until they came out with the boxy Compacts?

I have never seen a pre 1965 Compact with a factory applied metal Shasta emblem. The factory Shasta decal is almost a perfect match in both size and design to the metal emblem.

Mine doesn't have either. Hmm, maybe I'll get one of the decals for the front. Is that where it should go above the front window?

What is the correct placement of the decal?

I think I'll get a decal. I'd like one on the front above the window. I don't think I'll put any on the sides though.

Factory decals are actually done in a reverse with the script removed to show the color below. One on each side and one below the rear window and above the Bargman license plate light. The decal above the front window appears to be a standard style decal. Pardon the mildew in the picture as this was a "day 1" reference picture before doing anything including cleaning. I think tkcoply is right about the placement, but mine are gone and I am just trying to remember from where the traces of them were. I'm wondering, wasn't there one that said something about Industries inside the flare under the letters? If so, I think the Shasta trailers one went on either side below the z stripe and the different one with Industries went on the front above the window...but I'm guessing a bit...

Kel, just did a quick check in the Model Vin Identification section...clicked on Compact and enlarged the illustration of the 5 models. You can see the side and front placement of the decals on those models.

There was one that did say Industries. I believe that was a much later version. Perhaps when they added Motorhomes into the Shasta lineup. I THINK... maybe I'm wrong. Brian

Speaking of Shasta Motorhomes emblems. I was out scrounging around a junkyard last weekend and come across a late 60's Shasta mini motorhome. The emblem was there and it did say "MOTORHOMES" in the flare under "Shasta". I thought about grabbing it but chose not to since one I would eventually need would have to say "TRAILERS". If anyone wants the "MOTORHOMES" emblem it is at Windy Hill Auto Salvage near New London, MN. I occasionally make it over there and could pick it up sometime. Can't guarantee I'll make a special trip, though. Oh, and the Bargman L-66 was already taken off...
