This feed is hilarious!! I especially like the names of the chickens!!! LOL (I like the chicken house too!) I guess that would make it a chicken feed... It seems more appropriate to name the rooster "Soup", does it not? You'll just have to add some yellow cartoon dialogue balloons in the next pic. So what kind of fabric will you use on the dinette cushions, flocked cotton duck?

The dinette cushions right now are 100% layered chicken shat. Idiot rooster must hold it all day, and unload inside the Shasta. Just like a rodent in a real one.

Yours aren't molting yet? We have feathers all over the back yard! Gotta love that mobile yard art, though.

Hamlet, YES! they did molt. I've never had chickens. I thought they were like dying or something, had to google it. Like a feather bomb went off. Thank Vikx! We had to wait to take the photos due to the molt. A rooster without tailfeathers is like a __________ w/o ___________ . Fill in the blank. Could make for a funny thread... Attachments:

I joined backyard chickens a while back, never post there. My wife called me the other day flipping out, "June bug is dead!!" (The hen). We only have one hen and one rooster. Then called me back three hours later, "she's alive!!" .
All the while I'm at work, thinking "what?" Turns out, the hen got attacked by a red tail hawk, the hawk stripped a bunch of feathers off of her, and she hid under a wood pile. The rooster was hiding under my jeep, screaming and squawking. For hours.
My wife went to examine the scene of the crime, and heard a cluck cluck cluck from the wood pile. The resurrection of the hen! Mean ol hawk.

flyingham: I actually watched a hawk carrying one of our chickens off once. She lucked out as she was so fluffy, the hawk didn't get a good hold so she got loose and found her way back home. We've lost a couple chickens to hawks. We let the girls roam free, and they often roost in a tree. Chickens aren't smart, but I sure wouldn't want to get in the way of those claws! We are in the "city" and usually have three hens (no roosters allowed, but since we don't want chicks, we don't need a rooster), but two right now. Neither is a particularly good layer, but we seem to have plenty of eggs for the two of us.

I will probably repair the photos in this thread. As for chickens, the one rooster and one hen we have, popped some corn, and are the proud parents of three chicks. They hatched on the 24th. Will post pics with my new PHOTOBUCKET acct soon.
