So I have had a lot of time to sit and think while I do horribly boring jobs like priming and painting a trailer frame. Here is what I was thinking about...
I would like to put together a couple of videos for the VSTF. These would be the picture slideshow type of videos set to music. I think it might be cool to have members send me their trailer pictures to be in the video. Sort of like a video slideshow showcasing VSTF members trailers and the members that use them.
What does everyone think about that?
I think it would be kind of cool. I have some minor video editing software that could be used to do it. I need your help though.
Here is what I am looking for... I would like to see pictures that are beauty shots of your trailers. If you want to send some artsy fartsy shots of something like your wings that is cool too. I would even like to see great pictures of you and or your family using your trailers. A shot of you restoring? A pic of your trailer in front of a cool landmark? Any great pictures you have. A picture of your porta potty probably isn't going to make the cut.
Think like you are trying to sell this lifestyle to someone that isn't familiar with us, our culture or Shastas. Make it look fun! Do you know what I mean? I am not really trying to do a recruitment thing or anything. I just think we have enough members with kick ass trailers to show off in a video or two. Bring your A game and send your best shots. Interior, exterior...doesn't matter. I just want some great pics.
Here is the criteria for the submitted pics.
- Please send me the pictures to my email. You can access that in my profile. Use "VSTF Video Pictures" in the subject line so I know what it is.
- Only send pictures of the trailer you own. I don't want any copyright issues.
- Send me the highest resolution pictures you can. The higher quality pictures the better. Cell phone pictures with bad lighting probably won't cut the mustard.
- Send me as many as you want. I would like to make more than one video. If I don't use it in one I may use it in another.
- If you or your family is in the pic make sure the trailer is too in some way shape or form.
If I get enough pictures I will get started at some point. Even if I get a hundred pictures tomorrow it will be some time to get it set up and edited. Not some overnight project. I want to make the best video I can with what I have. Everyone will have to be patient for this to come to bear fruit.
So any ideas for this? I think this will be really cool if everyone jumps on board. What do you all think?
Brian

I totally love this idea so much, and it is something I was planning on doing with my own trailer reno pics, although the thought of everyone and their rad trailers is even better!! Of course, mine's a ways from being done so hopefully I can get some good shots before this project takes off

I think it is a great idea. Rosie is a far way from being ready, but I'll see what I can come up with.

You can send good pics of your trailer before the restoration started. I plan on using one of my exterior pic from when we brought her home. It doesn't have to be shiny and all pretty. The photo has to be of good quality. Not the picture off of craigslist when ya bought it. That isn't going to work. I know we must have some shutterbugs on here. I guess I didn't think about that. For the main videos that I would like to do I would say no. Shastas only. BUT... If I got enough submissions from VSTF members with other trailers I can certainly do a video just featuring the SOBs of the VSTF. I like that title. It makes me laugh. Anyway... If you would like to have your SOB featured in the SOB video please follow the same same submission guidelines as in the first post and shoot them my way. Put something like "SOB Video Pictures" in the title or something like that so I know what it is. Brian

I'll have to see what I can come up with. Most of my pics are pretty plain. Meaning just the trailers in the driveway. I think I have one of the Compact at a campground. I'll have to look. I'll be taking pictures in a couple weeks of the Astroflyte once we get her out so maybe I can get some good ones then.

Brian great progression on selling the Shasta lifestyle! I have noticed we get to chattering about Shastas advertised whenever there is a posed person in a vintage outfit...those of you thinking about sending Brian pics, please start gathering vintage clothes from the Goodwill and other charity outlets that would really show off the era too...like the pics I see at ralleys where there are poodle skirts and James Dean shirts...personally I'm looking for old bowling shirts, but the vintage pickers are really jacking up the prices of them on places like ebay, and they are getting hard to find. Doesn't mean you have to camp in only vintage clothes of course, but if we get to chattering about a posed pic, just seems like if you have your great Shasta with a terrific backdrop, there could be one that doesn't look "posed" of family relaxing in period clothes. Like, as a kid I'd never be caught dead wearing anything but white socks and my mom used to stop me and roll up my t-shirt sleeves, before I Dagwooded out to play, so I would look "presentable"...lol. Some day Miss Alabama 1961 will get a nice enough paint job, that I can consider sending a pic or three.

I really don't want anyone to think they can't share their pictures because it isn't fully restored and shined up. Please no one be ashamed or embarrassed about the condition of the trailer in the picture.
I plan on using a shot of mine from the day we brought it home. When I get it done and we are still doing videos at that point I will include one of those at that point.
If we wait for everyone to get their trailers done we could be waiting for ALONG time.
So far I have only gotten one set of Shasta photos. We are going to need alot more then that!!

LOL. Never heard of the $12.50 paint job but I get the drift! Good one.
I like the idea of dressing vintage to match your trailer. Hmmm '72 is my year...not sure I can remember back that far.

I just want to remind everyone to send me their pictures. So far I have only gotten one Shasta submission and two SOB submissions.
I really want to see this project happen and not let it die before it even gets going.
Send me your pics! I think this will be cool. I don't need beauty queens. Just good pics of member's trailers.

It appears this group of trailers is camera shy? I'm surprised. Everyone has such awesome avatar photos posted. I hope this does get off the ground and you get more submissions.

P.S. Bruce: I was at the Salvation Army looking for bowling shirts for you. Let me know what size and I'll totally keep my eye out since I seem to visit them weekly.

I'm going to try and get some good pics this weekend at the TCT gathering while we are set up, so we have the campground as backdrop for pics. I'll try and get some pics to you next week (:

I am doing one last push to get some more member submitted photos for the VSTF Video Project. I hope to get some more soon so I can get started. If there are no more submissions the first video may be pretty short. So please email me your shots by this Wednesday night! I look forward to seeing more pictures from everyone. Thanks. Brian

Just to let everyone know, I am almost done with the first two videos. I have pretty much exhausted the submissions that I have been sent by members.
However, I will certainly do more videos if everyone likes them and I welcome more submissions. I will need a ton more submissions if we are to do more videos. Look for the videos to be up tonight or tomorrow morning.
