So I glanced under the propane tank holder today while I was doing some painting and I noticed some numbers stamped in the frame.. Cool! The VIN~ My eyes are not so great up close so I took a couple digital pictures from slightly different angles and tonight after dinner I blew them up on the computer.. First picture I took: Second picture I took after I wiped my finger over the area a couple times: Am I crazy? or does one look like P 29963 and the other P 19963 ? Thoughts?

It looks like P 19963 to me. Try taking paper and doing a crayon rubbing and see if that helps.

Looks like a 2 stamped over a 1 to me. What does your title say. It may have been a mistake at the factory.

I deal with a lot of serial #'s in the army, on old stuff,,, try covering it with some white chalk, then wipe the chalk off, it should leave the lower areas with white chalk in them making it way easier to read.

No title, but the bill of sale has the 19963 number on it.. (and that makes sense for a 1971)
But man, that top picture sure looks like a #2 on purpose doesn't it?
Either way, I registered it with the 19963~
