Has anyone tried a natural aluminum finish? I have a 1951 cozy cruiser with unpainted aluminum skin. I would like to keep the unpainted look and maybe buff it (?) but not shine it. what process and products do I need to use to keep it protected and looking taken care of but not blinding? has anyone tried this, and if so do you like/not like it? pictures would be great too! thanks! If you want a mill finish but want to clean the aluminum (this is a smart idea) you will want to use a chemical called Aluminum Brightener. There are a bunch of different ones out there. Google it and try to pick the best one with the best reviews.
You will probably need a couple gallons to do the whole trailer with a couple of applications. Thats my guess. Unless it is concentrated. One gallon of of concentrate will go farther and you can dial in how much it brightens it.
Something like this will brighten the finish a bit because you are removing the oxidation. This is unavoidable. You are removing the oxidation but not polishing it. It will by no means polish the aluminum to a high shine which is what you want. The oxidation goes and it will be a bit brighter but will start to oxidize again at some point.
You could use something like Mother's Polish on a rag and it will polish it a bit but it won't be mirror.
