I started peeling some of the rotted paneling out, and saw the little critters. I punctured some holes and sprayed some bug spray in there. couple days later, I tore into that panel again and saw it had worked. I'm afraid that I'll make this thing like Swiss cheese if I proceed with this method trying to kill all of them.
How does one get rid of them???

(while this is not a helpful comment) i just had to laugh picturing my trailer tented...too funny modernme. i'm about to open up mine today and was thinking about all the rot and possibilities of termites too. i'd say the only helpful thing would be to replace the wood because what you see on the outside can be nothing compared to what goes on on the inside of the wood.

I mean, you know, take the propane tanks off first. You gotta be smart about it ;D
Jokes aside, it's probably, more common than we think. Let us know your solution. Sorry that I wasn't more helpful.

I agree with the comment that you would be better off to remove any suspect wood. Even if you kill off the termites the damage they have already done will make the wood weaker than it was intended to be, and in the South, sometimes one can pick up a piece of 2x4 that looks like it has had termites just nibbling on one end and as you cut that section off discover most of the insides gone further up where there is no outer visible signs of termite activity. We also have ants that compete with termites for a nice wood dinner where I live.

Only god knows how deep they've eaten, and he's not tellin'. This things 50 years old. The only way to find out is take all apart. No thanks. I'm going to look into the tent. I'm curious.
