Totay was the first of our maiden voyage. All the way to DMV to get registered. And to top it all off we had nearly an inch of rain today...at the end of June in California. This is not supposed to happen. But ah....everything happens for a reason, I guess. Anyway, looks like the front window is leaking somehow. Would love some diagnostic protocol on how to figure out where it's coming from. For those of you that don't know I just did a rebuild and I have to say I'm a little annoyed that I have a leak...not surprised but definitely annoyed.
1. There's plenty of butyl tape. 2. I installed the new backframe gaskets using rtv sealant as indicated by the VTS directions. One question I had with these is do you want to seal at the corners or leave them open so that water can drain out? 3. Standard window seal .....should I have put some rtv or other sealant between the seal and the window? This seems to me the weakest link in the chain. 4. I haven't put on the eyebrows yet... this also seems like a potential leak source. The eyebrows will go on before we hit the road.
I'm trying to avoid taking the whole thing out....but if necessary of course I will.
Good news is it looks like everywhere else is okay.

Leaky windows are a PAIN. I use thin putty tape on the Hehr backframe gasket. Not sure on the corners; most of the originals aren't sealed. Eyebrows help a LOT.
I also use sealant just below the standard window seal. (on the inside) I've tried both tacky butyl tape and a small bead of silicone before the glass is installed. Jury is still out.
You should be able to slip the glass portion of the window off the installed frame so that you can work on it if need be. There's a little flap at the end...
I also purchased some special flowing silicone made for window glass. It does flow, so only works on the sides and bottom. Runs down the glass if you try it on the top.
Have fun on your trip!
