When we store our campers for any long period of time, we pour a ring of borax around each tire and the tongue jack. Ants will not cross over or through the borax.
This is also great to do, if you are camping in areas where the ant population is high.

We park our trailer on a shady part of the driveway under a tree. One year I noticed big black ants and thought they were using the trailer as a shortcut from the tree above which brushed on the roof to the ground. Little did I know then that they were living in the trailer, had a massive nest in the right front corner just below the countertop and had devastated the structure there. When I have the time, I plan to remove the counter and cabinets, and add new structure adjacent to damaged material. It's too hot to even think about that now, plus I need to paint the house first.

Cornmeal is a good ant poison that is non-toxic, if you have pets.
Smelly stuff like vinegar, cinnamon, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and cloves also seem to affect the way they follow one another. Some of these are better than others if you have pets. I wouldn't want my cat sniffing a pile of cayenne, but she's had ground cloves sprinkled around her food bowl and doesn't seem to mind one bit. And that's 100% effective against the ants finding the food.
Sprinkling ground cinnamon and cloves will make your trailer smell like you've been baking gingerbread all winter long, too.

I love this product. We had an ant problem in our bathroom, I put one down and bam in about 3 days no more ants. It worked so well in taking them out. I like the cornmeal or spice ideas of keeping them out of the trailer to start. We have neighborhood cats that like to come around our house. Even though they annoy me, I would feel horrid if I accidently poisoned them.
