Well Me and my Wife are back from our NIGHTMARE vacation.
The Shatsa did great! Towed awesome, nothing fell apart, the bed was awesome. Everything worked. The Shasta was a total success!!
My truck on the other hand....... My tranny decided it didn't want to live anymore and shredded itself Saturday morning about 100 miles from Yellowstone (400 miles from home).
About 2 miles walk/hike to the nearest gas station (middle of nowhere) Crowheart, Wyo. We use there phone and phone book. Guy at the gas station was really friendly and was great. We ended up being there for about 4 hours.
Finally get towed in Dubois, Wyo. The tow truck driver was great, he was AAA so the towing was covered, and his shop was right in front of a KOA.
SO he tows us into the KOA, the place is booked solid ...... But the KOA people were great too and fit us in.
So now we are set up at Duboise, Wyo KOA 400 miles away from home with a truck that will not move anywhere. We go to open the camper.... LOCKED.... locked out! My poor wife crawls in through the baggage door, through the door under the mattress and inside the camper and gets the door unlocked. I have been in and out of the camper at least 1000 times restoring it with no problem but in the last 30 miles of the trip it locks itself. It wasn't locked when we were broke down.
Anyways, long story short, we wait till Monday to get the truck looked at and bam, tranny is junk. I can fix it at home for way cheaper the BFE Wyo.
We tried to make the best of it and enjoy ourselves at the KOA and my dad drove the 400 miles this morning in my friends dodge to come get us.
So here I am back home, with the Shasta. Yellowstone is still on the to-do list. My wife has some serious food poisoning going on. I have a broken truck 400 miles away and a huge favor owed to my Dad and my friend Dave. And back to work on Monday.
