Yesterday I made the dreaded trip to Cal. dmv to get my '72? Shasta registered. What a surprise. 30 min. in and out. Registered my '72 with perm plates and clear title. Also updated address on two other trailers. Very efficient and polite clerk. The key is: call ahead for an appointment. I called on Mon and got an appointment for 8:15am the next day. Attachments:

Glad your experience was pleasant and quick.
Not sure about other states but in California, I used AAA to register my out of state SOB (Deville). I was there when they opened....greeted by a smiling hostess and was at a window in 3 minutes. Ten minutes later, we walked out the door to inspect the VIN number on the trailer. There was some initial discussion about permanent registration or annual but that was quickly resolved by a senior person who shared that the vintage trailers get the permanent plates. Total time.....15 minutes. Very pleasant experience. I'll never register anything again at the DMV office.
