Today, I checked the McKinney Campsite Map. Sites 3, 5, 18, 19, 29, 30 are still available in the designated Shasta gathering area. Are there any more details, such as what site # the social gatherings will be at and specific times?

I don't think we have ironed out those details yet. I'm personally not sure which site might be best for the group events. Others may know the site layouts better. Ill get with harrison (since she did so good last year)

For as small as we appear to be gathering as a group shouldn't be a problem anywhere though I believe 27/28 sites have a lot of space in between them that would be good for gathering. If we don't have gale winds we could even meet on the beach which I'd like to do at least once, maybe the Friday afternoon or night gathering? Here's a review of what is planned...
Friday Oct 12 3pm Mixer/Activity --We're looking at some sort of activity, a little mixer style event, something like horseshoes, bolo toss, bean bag toss etc etc.
Friday Oct 12 7pm Campfire/Drinks/Social Hour? -- Bring your own drinks and maybe a desert of some sort to share
Saturday Oct 13 9am Activity --print rally T-shirts (or other smooth cotton items)
Saturday Oct 13 12pm Trailer Tour --Like last year, tour of trailers
Saturday Oct 13 3pm Swap Meet/Campsite Sale --We would like to have a little sale, try and limit the items to Camping Gear, Vintage Anything, Camper Parts, Items used for staging trailers/decorating etc etc. Not looking to see your Danielle Steel book collection etc.
Saturday Oct 13 6 pm Pot-Luck Dinner --This was a big success last year, we have more than enough food. Like to see that response again this year. So get practicing with your crock pots (don't forget the liners), fire up the grill, or just bring something yummy. (as time gets closer and we have a better list of folks going ill try and organize folks to different food categories (so we don't have 1 entree and 27 deserts)
Sunday Oct 14 1030am Brunch/Goodbyes --A morning group brunch??

Sites 31-40 appear to be posted as first-come-fist serve. So apparently they can not be reserved ahead and are left open and available to last minute arrivals. This opens up another option for other vintage campers who might like to attend. Call the office and inquire to be sure.

Update: All sites in the general area of the Shasta/Vintage Trailer gathering are now reserved. ADA sites 26,31,40,49 are still available if you qualify. Non reservable sites First-Come-First Served are 34,35,36,37,38,39. If you are a Shasta Forum member and have a reserved site please respond.
As a side note: 30 Sisters on the Fly trailers are reserved at Stone Mountain Park on trails H&I the weekend of October 26,2012. They are not having trailer Tours for the general public, but 3 of their trailers will be on display at the Better Homes and Gardens event that weekend.

Anyone need a step for their trailer? we accidentally bought the wrong 'drop'. It was $45 w/$20 shipping...make me an offer. I'll bring it to the rally but only if you email me ahead of time, otherwise it stays at home. heres the link to the company who made it. thanks www.elkharttool.com/single_rv_steps.htmlAttachments:

I am in 412. Its a pull through on the water (kinda).
I can tell you I wont be around too much that weekend. Its our anniversary and with the southern ghost tour and southern living tour plus local and out of state family coming to camp you wont see much of us....

Site # 18 is reserved by a 1958 Airstream for the McKinney gathering.
Site #424 is Donald and Kristi at Stone Mountain, but we will be over looking at the "Sister on the Fly" trailers and maybe the Country Living event, where three of their trailers will be on display for viewing. The only sites left for that weekend are in the 300 and 400's area. So it could turn into another vintage gathering if more of you want to come.

OK - It is now available.www.recreation.gov/camping/Mckinney_Campground/r/campsiteDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO&siteId=82592&parkId=71289Well ............. Unfortunately we won't be able to attend the Rally so we will be cancelling our reservation tonight about 7:30 EST SO if anyone wants to jump in at the last minute, we are cancelling site #21 (right in the middle of all the rally action). It is a great site - hope someone here gets it - it will go fast! Cancelling for Thurs - Sat nights. Check in on Thursday is at 4:00, Check out on Sunday is 3:00 or just grab Friday and Saturday. However we plan on coming for the tour of trailers on Saturday if time and circumstances allow, just can't camp for the long weekend (family obligations).

I made a batch of Italian meatballs today, to bring to the Saturday Pot-Luck. I froze them and will be using my crock-pot to finish them up at the campground.I will be bringing my Waffle Iron and ingredience for waffles or pancakes for the Sunday Brunch.Friday night is the dessert social,so I am planning on a sheet cake or frosted brownies.Thought this might help so that we don't all bring the same thing! Is anyone bringing copies of the schedule of events to hand out to any vintage trailers that show up, that aren't from the Shasta Forum? We are arriving on Thursday and so is the couple with the vintage Airstream. Sites 17 &18. See you all soon.

Sounds yummy Kristi...here's our menu/plan: Friday social: Apple Crisp (think center of apple pie) Saturday potluck: Loaded Potato Soup Sunday brunch: Orange Blossom (Sweet) Rolls (pictured) I hope to do better this time on the apple crisp (last time I thought they were too mushy!) and the other 2 are new recipes...God help us all! hahaha I'd love to think we'll have enough people to warrant copies of our schedule...we'll have to get Offspringin/our leader working on that along with signs for our sites. All that sounds yummy.
Kristi if you want to do the brownies my wife was going to do a Shasta cake for the Friday night gathering.
For Saturday we were planning deviled eggs and the crock pot Mac & cheese. May also bring a desert to Saturday dinner too.
We are arriving Thursday afternoon. Should be there by 3 if no problems.
I'll take care of the schedules and site signs. I'll be contacting everyone to see what names ( other than forum name) they might like on it.
