Hmmmm. Might have to look into this. There were so many great people at the McKinney gathering that I would love to see again.

We are definitely interested! The week before we will be going to Tennessee to the Bugapalooza event now that we finally are getting our 74 bug painted, but we could probably handle 2 weekends in a row of camping Would really like to see everyone again! And I bet Leslie would do her famous Mac 'n Cheese again for us if we pleaded!

Once you make your Stone Mountain Campground reservation, post your campsite number at this thread. Other Shasta trailers might like to plan to be in close proximity to each other on the loop. After Christmas, this Rally will be promoted on the Air Forum too. I would like to have an idea of how many Shastas will be in attendance. As before, plan on preparing an appetizer for the Friday Meet and Greet, a covered dish for the Saturday Potluck, and a Breakfast dish to share at the Sunday Brunch. Everyone have a Wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year, Kristi

Spoke with Darlene about how to get in the gate free. She said that we need to have at least 15 members stay with the group to get the free admission. So come on people... lets have a packed gathering.
As a side note. 2 dump stations are located within about 100 ft of site 168, may want to take that into consideration before booking on that end of the loop. At least the last site or so.

The "Old School" type Rock Band that usually plays at Springstream and Falluminum might be playing for all of us at Stone Mountain too. You are in for a real treat, if they can get enough band members organized for this Rally. They usually set up and play after the Pot-Luck on Saturday night in the Pavilion.

We need to get some more Shasta on this trip. Kristi says (via PM) that there are 8 reserved already (including me) so that's 7 Airstreams/Avions to my one tiny Compact. She said there are another 5 that are planning to go but have not reserved yet, and there are another 3 Shastas on this thread that are interested. That's 16 folks but we need some more Shastas there for sure!
We camped at Stone mountain in Oct, it was beautiful. Think our lake site (which really wasn't "on" the lake) was 45 a night, so in comparison at 49 a night its a pretty decent deal to get the premium sites.

Four more Airstream couples have said they are planning to attend the Stone Mountain Rally. I don't think we will have any trouble reaching the necessary 15 trailer requirement for the Special free gate entrance deal. The organizer will be looking into more details next week. I will post the schedule once He lets me know it. Happy New Year!!

For those arriving on Thursday let's plan on a climb the rock right after lunch. Then you have the option of climbing back down the rock or taking the cable car down and walking back to your vehicle. The rock is easy to climb, just a scramble but wear good shoes and take some water. Later that afternoon there will be an easy paddle around Stone Mt. Lake for those who have kayaks or canoes. We will just meander around looking at whatever there is to see. Make sure you have and use your personal flotation device (PFD) and other safety equipment.
More events will be announced later This is the latest update from the organizer. Anymore Shastas planning to come?

Planned Activities so far:
1) Thursday arrivals may like to join up for a mountain climb or group kayaking.
2)Friday arrivals may like to come to the 6:00 PM Meet and Greet at the Pavilion. Bring an appetizer to share plus your own drinks. We may have the pleasure of listening to the Airstream Rock Band following the social at the Picnic Pavilion.
3)Saturday: Enjoy what Stone Mountain Park has to offer then meet at the Pavilion at 4:00 with a Covered Dish for the Pot-Luck Early Dinner.
The Shuttle Bus will be available to take campers from the campground to the Laser Show which starts at 9:00 PM.
4)Sunday there is a nondenominational Church Service at the Picnic Pavilion. We are not sure of the time frame yet, but it would be nice to have a Sunday Brunch right after the church service before the check out time of 12:00 Noon.

With the price of gas so high and going up, this close to home rally sounds ideal. Even though the sites are higher than we are accustomed to, we'll save on travel time, gas, meals while traveling and only book two nights instead of three. 30 sites were reserved for this gathering,so there is still space available for more Shastas, if you want to join in the fun.

Kristi asked that i follow up one more time on here and see if anyone else is interested in going on this trip. She told me that as a group they have 15 (maybe +) going now so the gate fee is waved. This outing is going to be offered up to Sisters on the Fly and TCT, she wanted to give one last chance for any of the VSTF members to grab a spot before doing so. So if anyone was thinking about going the time is now, only 3 months away now. If not my tiny Compact will have to represent on its own

We just book site #146 to help represent the Shastas ;D The gate fee will be waived for one vehicle. If you have another vehicle joining you it will only be a one time $10.00 gate entry fee good for the entire stay. Check in time is 2:00 but if your site is empty you can enter early, just call to check. Campground Map: hfeimages.aristotle.net/General/SMP/Maps%20-%20Campground%202012.pdfRally is in the purple loop. As of this time the available sites are: 140 141 142 143 144 145 149 150 151 152 153 166A 167 168

As of this morning, the sites that are still available are: 140 141 142 143 156 166A 167 168 151,152, 153, Motorhome pull-in only Darlene said to place your Forum Name on a card and place it in the corner of the drivers side of the windshield. This will signal the Park entrance gate person that your car is to be waved in without a fee.I believe they will issue you an official tag once you register at the campground.

Sounds like this will be a pretty full group, 30 sites reserved and only 11 open left. Glad 65Callie could make it. We wont be the only Shasta there now!

I found out that the Pavilion holds 200 or so people with plenty of electrical outlets for crock pots, electic grills, coffee pots and such. If the reserved loop fills up but more Shastas want to come, you are still welcome to join the planned activities in the Pavilion even if you have to reserve a site in a different section of the campground. However you won't be able to benefit from the special group rate or waved park gate fee.

Update: As of today there are only 4 sites left in the purple reserved loop. Some more orange sites have been added for this Rally. April 27-29 Call 770-498-5710 Ask for Darlene and for the Airstream group rate. I just found out it is Spring Fling for the kids on Sat. Children under 15 are having a fishing tournament, a magician will perform in the Pavilion, and a Family Boat Ride around the Lake is offered. Be sure to ask about the Boat ride when you register at the campground. It is included in our Package deal for free.On Saturday it is a complimentary ride as part of Spring Fling too. Also, apparently there is a shuttle boat from the campground to the theme Park across the Lake and a Shuttle bus that leaves every 45 minutes on Sat. Duck rides are also available for a fee ( an amphibious vehicle).

There are a considerable number of vintage trailers attending this rally. A "Tour Of Trailers" has been requested to be part of the Rally agenda. So, On Friday starting at 4:00 PM the "Tour" will begin. If you want to show your trailer, put a "Tour Of Trailers" sign on your site post and one in your trailer window closest to the door. Be sure to lock your valuables in your tow vehicle out of view, if you will be leaving your trailer open and unattended. Only visit trailers that are clearly marked as participating. Remember that the "Meet and Greet" appetizer social is at the Pavilion at 6:00 PM following the "Tour". Some orange sites have been added and are still available for the Rally discount price, if you have been procrastinating about making reservations.

Can the tour be Saturday morning instead or is everyone going to be set up in the sites and ready to tour on Friday afternoon? Some may not have arrived by then. Just a thought.

I imagine I will get other folks requesting another Day and time for the "Tour Of Trailers" too. Saturday, I thought most people would be getting Adventure Passes for Stone Mountain Park's attractions and want to use every minute to get their $$$ worth. Maybe we'll need to offer two different times for the "Tour". With so many people attending, it would offer more opportunities to participate and more time to see all of the trailers too. I always enjoy seeing what everyone has done to their trailers, taking pictures and just chatting with Rally attendees.

Thursday, KAYAKAMPERS will be guiding anyone who wants to go to a German restaurant in Downtown Stone Mountain for dinner. They live near Stone Mountain and are very familiar with the area and the food at the restaurant. Plan to meet them at the Pavilion to follow them to the restaurant. A time, and hopefully a link to the restauant's menue will follow.

There are still three sites available in the original purple loop and sites 2-9 in the added orange sites, if anyone else wants to come join in on The Airstream Club Rally. Yes, there will be Aluminum as far as the eye can see, but how often do you get invited to a Rally without having to do any of the work? Hope to see a few more Shasta owners register, before the sites are given over to the general public in March.
