I thought I'd show you all my before/after of my stove. I had it re-porcelained. I absolutely LOVE it! So much better than the brown. Attachments:

Very nice. Where did you have that done? I was thinking appliance paint on ours but that would be much nicer.

I was advised to not go with appliance paint if you ever intend to actually use the stove. The reason is the temperature given off the burners when lit can create toxic fumes from the paint. I sent in just the door and top to www.matterasstoveworks.com in RI. They re-porcelain them in various colors at 1200 degrees.

may I ask how much it cost plus shipping, how long it took and how hard to ship. Did you pack & ship it yourself? My stove is Avocado green (like my mom's 1974 kitchen ewwww) I want red, yellow or lime green LOL

hey Little Vintage - I am getting feedback from some porcelain companies that redoing these old stoves won't hold up. Is your stove holding up to the heat?
Please let me know!
Thanks!

Tigertom, no problems here but then again I've never fired up the stove LOL! So it's not seen any heat from the burners or the oven. Honestly though I don't see why it wouldn't hold up, it's made the same way (fired at 1200 degrees).

That's correct. It's not powder coating or painting. It is the glass substance reapplied. We had our cast iron grates reporcelained. They turned out great, but you need to realize that porcelain is basically a glassy ceramic, so it can chip if abused.

I had no idea this was even an option. WOW! It is gorgeous!
I'm reiterating an earlier question: can you ballpark about how much this costs?
Thanks!

If memory serves me correctly I believe it was around $290. I want to say that included shipping but please don't quote me. I know it was definitely under $350 (if I had to pay shipping separate). Not cheap but the results are fantastic!

That looks great....I just happened upon this while trying to de-rust my stovetop grill and baking rack. I was scared to use appliance paint because of the same concerns so I will def. check them out. Did you use the robin egg blue? My scheme is more of the mint green I think, but trying to see a true color on their website was kinda hard.
Did you send in the baking rack or the black grill top pieces?

I want to see the photos, they are no longer visible! Someone email them to me. We are in the process of doing the exact same thing right now and my husband wants to paint it but I am intending on using it for cooking - looks like that is out now after reading about the toxic fumes part! We will check out the website mentioned too, thanks guys!

I am getting mine done @ Cherokee Porcelain in Knoxville, Tennessee - they are bit less expensive. I hadn't posted before now because I wanted to get it back before I made an official recommendation. Should take about a week total.

I can't get the pictures to show, either. It sounds great, though I just bought brown and aqua curtain fabric to try and work with my brown stove, lol...

She is not on here as much as she used to be but she is very helpful.
