Hello again folks
I thought I would start a new thread with some great wing news.
Well its been a long road and quite a bit of work but I am now able to make reproduction wings for Shasta's! They are slightly modified from the originals but only slightly. The finished look is fantastic. I am going to offer these for sale for those who want them and I will contact those of you who already showed interest. They are rather costly to build and I am really not making much money at all on these but I know there are folks out there that really want new quality wings and cant find them.
So far I have made:
9" X 42" 58-60 wrap around style
9" X 42" for 61 and later
8" X 36" All years
CAN make 7X27" and 6X25" no problem
They get better every time I make them.
Construction:
- Materials: All wings are made from 3000 Series exterior grade aluminum .020, bright brushed finish.
-Wrappings are double molding style anodized aluminum with stainless screws
- Cores are made from AZEK board and will not rot. This will also be true for any 58-60 wings I make in the future. I have made 58-60 with plywood (as they originally were, but its just not worth the extra work for me to seal the wood. Not to mention AZEK is much lighter. This makes the finished wing just over 1 1/2 inches thick for all styles. Also the design is such that the mounting locations are fully supported inside so you wont crush the skins by tightening the fasteners like you could with some original wings.
- Hardware: All wings will include stainless mounting Hardware. Standoffs included for 61 and later years only.
- Customers choice if they want the wings drilled for mounting or not (I suggest not, its better to transfer your hole pattern from the side of your camper and drill it yourself. This way you don't add holes to your skin) Mounting is your responsibility so mount them tight and into good wood, no rot.
- Skin Lines: Skins will ALL have the rolled beaded seam look. This includes the 58-60 style. I have made the folded style for the early years and its very difficult to control the consistency and I make too much costly scrap. The beads are very consistent not to mention the beaded line looks much better in my opinion.
-Dimensions: The wings will have the same dimensions of the originals. Also the nose geometry will be correct for your year.
Price:
9 X 42 and 8 X 36 all years: $300 plus $30 shipping
(the cost is the same as they use the same amount of raw material/time)
7 X 27 and 6 X 25: $250 plus $30 shipping
I have many more pictures at my website : www.nastyshasty.blogspot.com (Click the "WINGS" Tab at the top of the page)
If interested or have questions, please contact me at tylerbes@gmail.com
I will also post a few more photos here.
Hope to hear from you, thanks again for all of those who have helped me get these going.
