I am also curious as I have heard that having something rechromed is really costly.

yeah, judging my what I have found for prices on rechroming I would guess $125.00 to $150.00 buy once, cry once, hopefully with proper maintenance and waxing it, I can get 20-30 years out of it.we'll see.
there is one on ebay right now, the nicest I have seen, only a couple of blistered areas on it.

well I heard back from two of the companies, one needs more info, and the other I guess is over the pond, they want this "TOTAL: £180 + P&P + vat and Insurances if required".

WOW!! Dat's a lotta money! I just bought an Awning Rail Spreader tool from across the pond and the pound (which I could have made that cool lb sign) is not quite double the USD.

I'm not sure I really know what I'm talking about but could you do this by "electo-plating" or is that the same thing? Seems it may be an alternative? I think I will do some research and see what pops up.

Hey, send it off to Rick at American Restoration! With all the rechroming they (and others) do I can't imagine it's as costly as someone always wants to charge, maybe it's just knowing the right person. I'd love to see them restore an old trailer on their show.

Yeah! They need to know we exist... or maybe not. Then we'd never find another trailer...

Has anyone given any thought to nickel plating? I know it will not be as shiny as chrome, but it still looks really nice. The thing with nickel plating is you can do it yourself at home, with all the stuff you need costing under 50.00. Here is a youtube video about how to make the nickel acetate solution: www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVkFMJeotcg&feature=channelHere is another video showing the next step: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lcz8Py7bjzQI plan on doing this for a few small objects I have.. Cant wait to try it out! Always great to have another skill...
