My name is Stephanie and my husband is Tom. We have inherited what we think is a Starflyte, but would appreciate confirmation of the model. My inlaws bought the camper new and traveled to Carabelle RV Park in Florida for several years. The camper has been parked on my inlaws' property in Fish Creek, WI since 1986, serving as additional accommodations when families come together. There are so many great memories and we feel it deserves to be brought back to life and put back on the road! We cleaned it out last weekend (got rid of carpet, old mattress and debris) and will bring it home to Des Plaines, IL sometime this summer to start working on it. There is some water damage on the back wall, and it looks like it has all of its original parts except that the refrigerator was replaced with a smaller model by Magic Chef. I would like to find a larger appliance that fits the space better. Does it makes sense to restore the inside before the outside? Is it safe to pressure wash the outside? Any input is appreciated. Thanks Stephanie tsbengtsson@gmail.com This is a second try - first one would not let me post the picture

Good day to Steph and Tom, Posting your pic? Trying opening it up on your computer and shrinking it down to "email" size. Open the picture up, go to the top and "Edit", then go to the right side of the page and follow thru with " Resize".. Perhaps that will get you guys going in the right direction. We'd all love to see you camper.

Welcome Stephanie and Tom. Great looking Starflyte. As for restoring the interior before the exterior.... I would concentrate on finding and fixing the water leak problem first. Once the body is water tight, you can restore the interior and then tackle the exterior at a later date. Pressure washing?? I personally wouldn't. If you have lots of tree grim and / or general dirt on the outside, I like using Purple Power, Grease Lighting or any type of heavy duty cleaner, a sponge & warm water, when washing our trailers. These cleaners work great on removing the black streaks left behind from the oxidizing aluminum trim. Also, when you have time, could you please give me your Shasta's VIN number (which is located on the tongue)? I am compiling a Shasta Database. This helps in identifying and dating the Shasta's. Here is more info on the Database: vintageshasta.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=title&action=display&thread=5185

Welcome to the VSTF!! Don't feel bad asking what kind of Shasta you have...I have been learning to identify Shastas for 2 years now and would have said a Starflyte too, up until a couple of days ago...then I was fiddling in the VIN Identification section of the Forum, clicked open the Airflyte section and was scrolling down and BAM response #6 with it's illustration of the next generation AIRFLYTE shows two pics please go there and enlarge the pic...with the trunk on your model shaped as it is, I'm guessing that you have an Airflyte 19' Deluxe, if I am reading the ad correctly...never paid that close attention to that pic before...can any other Member confirm or debunk my assessment?!? I think the Body Style 17 on your Title refers to the "box" being 17' while the Airflyte 19 designation includes the tongue...maybe

ps...while I trust all Members , I suggest that if anyone wants to share VIN#'s it is best to do so by PM...when I tried to register my '61 Compact with the VIN# clearly stamped on the tongue...the DMV said sorry, we already show a camper registered with that VIN#. Mine came from Alabama, had sat in the same spot with an Alabama tag that had expired 35 years ago, for over 25 years prior to my purchasing it, and could not possibly be the camper currently registered with my VIN# in Mississippi. We ended up getting it approved for a new Title by adding 2 letters to the original VIN#, and then I took a metal stamp and added those two letters on the tongue. Might look a bit fishy, but at least my Title matches the number and is legal! It definitely will not match any Shasta VIN# database now though, lol...but it should not turn up as stolen either. Could be people that are not Members trolling this site looking for VIN#'s to claim for stolen campers of similar makes or size...Mississippi required no physical inspection nor confirmation visually of my VIN# or camper, so someone probably has a stolen small camper registered with my original VIN# in Mississippi..

The picture on the brochure certainly looks like our! But the floor plan is not the same - our does not have a shower and the sink and range are reversed. Thanks for pointing me to this part of the forum - I'll spend some time here and try to figure out what it is.

No worries.. your welcome Nice looking camper. I Still don't know what we have (lol) but all directions point us to the Loflyte group. Does yours have the U-shape dinnet bed gig in the back? Shoot some more pics when you guys get a chance. And welcome to the forum!

The back of the camper has a long couch that pulls out to a full bed; the front has two benches and a table in the middle that also makes into a full bed. Curb side has a range on the left and sink with drawers underneath on the right. Street side, left to right, fridge on the bottom with large storage compartment on top, then full size wardrobe, then WC (no shower). It's definitely not an Ultra (though the outside is styled the same.)

We sure have grown in numbers as far as Membership is concerned in the past 12 months. And with that increase, the number of Member's Shastas has also increased. I urge any Member who has purchased a Shasta that had original Shasta documents or brouchures in it to contact Brian aka Atomic Addiction and share those documents. It may be that lots of additional reference pics of the different types of Shastas can be added to the Identification section to benefit all Members. The more I see the more I learn.

Another thought! What year did they change the skin to the hard horizontal ridges from the softer look? I've seen many pics of '67 Shasta trailers that have the hard ridges, while ours does not. Maybe it varied by where it was manufactured? Ours was built in Goshen, IN

We found the original paperwork from when my father-in-law bought the trailer! It was purchased new on April 20, 1967 and the invoice says 1967 Shasta 17' travel trailer. PP was $2,000 and it is an Astroflyte! Found the brochure too and have tried to attach it ... Attachments:

We have now moved Gullebo home to a suburb of Chicago, from Fish Creek Wisconsin. We put new tires on for the 250 mile tow, and now wonder where to start, or where we can start, given the time of year and the falling temps. She will be stored outside next to our garage. Attachments:
