I am hoping to repair my exterior door handle and other extreior pot metal parts. Do you think JB weld would work to fill in the pitted sections? Or would bondo work better?

are you going to fill the holes then paint them? or get them re-chromed or something? do you have source for re-chroming?

I'm hoping to have them re chromed. No source yet. I probably can't afford it. I may try the chrome spray paint.

JB Weld would be a lot stronger, but I have no idea whether it would stand up to re-chroming, or hold the chrome or not. Re-chroming's done by electrolysis, right? JB Weld would have to have the same electrical characteristics as the pot metal to get a consistent thickness of chrome (I would think). I doubt Bondo would even get coated, though. I'd ask the re-chroming guy first.
