Here is another question of curiosity...
How much did you pay for your trailer up front? I'm not talking how much you put into it. I'm wondering how much you paid the previous owner for it.
You can vote in the poll and no one can tell how you voted. Even I can't tell how you voted. So if that kind of thing bothers you can still vote.
Again, I'm wondering for the simple fact of wonderment.

i bought my trailer for $1100.00. i think i could have gotten for slightly cheaper since it needed so much work, but he had it listed for $1500 and i was able to get him knock off $400.00. don't even ask me how much is into it, that i will not divulge!! (too much...)

voted: $900 delivered. Of course it needed a lot. I put that into it again just to get it to where I would take it on a trip, lol. 3 tires, chains wiring, brake controller, bulbs, lenses......

$250.- and used our AAA card to get it brought to the house on a flatbed. Had my father in-law knock on the door of the house where we had been driving past it for a year or so, then had wait about 5 months for the sellers to be ready to let it go.

Mine was $200. 1968 13' Shasta in clean, straight condition. I'm reburishing it now to suit my taste, but I could have used it just fine the way it was.

Apparently, I spent more than most $3500. The good: all windows sealed and polished inside and out - no broken glass, all window hardware original and in working order, all water damage corrected with new paneling - below front side windows only!, interior birch paneling completely refinished, all original exterior lighting (even license plate light), updated electrical throughout, original working stove (oven never used), original drawer hardware, dinnette light shade, & dinnette gas lamp, new awning from Vintage Trailer Supply, etc., etc., etc. The bad: missing canvas cots and poles (have mounting hardware still on walls), missing original wall light by gaucho, missing original cushions (now have new upholstered foam), missing green factory plaque, roof patch with no indication of leaking, one damaged, but fixable wing (the other is perfect) & that is about it. Original exterior paint - a pro & and a con. In the end, a very campable, towable, enjoyable camper with minimal restoration needed. I am pleased : )

Paigeellen- Nothing wrong with that- sounds like you got a very good deal. Even though I only spent $500 on the purchase I've spent about $1500 more (and hours of joyful labor) to get mine to where yours already is.

Mine is campable now but needs new cushions, paint, and...well a lot.

I paid $500 up front. Since then, I have dropped about $1,500 into it to get it road worthy. I am not aiming for a restoration, I just want to be able to use it to camp and make family memories. .. and we are making some wonderful memories. Betsy

Bought our 68 Airflyte for $750 delivered to my house.
Has new tires (including spare), 2 new propane tanks, working propane fridge and stove, water tight, all original glass is there and in working condition.
Needs door handle, and we'd like to recover all the cusions, but its campable right now.

I just bought my 1968 Shasta Compact for $1350 ..asking price was $1500. It was used as a deer camp for a while and then a young married couple bought it to camp. The camper is sound with no leaks. It has some hail damage (very small dimples on one side). It is ready to use. As a future member of the "Sisters on the Fly" , I want to put my own retro spin on it and spurce her up along the way. It is a perfect size for me! I would like to replace the skin eventually. Does anyone know where I can get new siding?

Welcome to the VSTF nitab123...there are a number of Compact owners in the Forum...they can answer any question that comes up or point you to a thread that can...about the skin...go to Exterior Refurbishing Forum section and click into the exterior skin threads...lots of info on skin replacement there. I believe we count a number of Sisters on the Fly amongst our Membership too. I am sure they will identify themselves. Again welcome and I wish you happy camping with your '68 Compact!! Oh, and we love to see pictures of each member's Shasta, so we will be looking forward to yours too.

I just bought a 69 compact for $770 and the owner agreed to put new tires on it. Other than the cushions needing to be replaced due to ripped/torn material, it is in very decent shape.

I bought my SC16 for $2500 as an empty shell. The floor, paneling, wiring had all be redone. It was just waiting for an interior to be installed. I have since finished the interior with all new fixtures and appliances and have probably put another $2000 into it for a total of $4500. But she now sports all stainless steel cabinets and appliances with maple dinette and bench seat framing. It is a great little camper with a nice little bathroom. No more runs to the bathhouse at 2am with the kids.

Still not sure exactly what my trailer is... Loflyte, Starflyte, etc., approx. 1970 something, but I only paid $200 for it so whatever it is... that works for me. It is a clean slate for remodeling. Fun! Fun! Fun!

I bought a second Airflyte.. a 71 to go along with our 68. Its actually nicer than the 68 so it will be the base for our remodel. It was only $100 ~ Its amazing that these old Shastas are usually so inexpensive.
(I think people who go out and buy $10K plus trailers to go camping with their kids are just plain nuts.. Just as many fun memories in a $1000 camper as a $10,000 camper)
