My door handle seems to be missing something...it looks as if there used to be a little light or plastic piece that fit into this slot? Can anyone educate me? '63 Shasta 1500 Attachments:

My '64 Airflyte handle is exactly the same. (Missing the insert and everything). I have read on this thread, comments #15 and #16: vintageshasta.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=trailersforsale&action=display&thread=6069that some of the manufacturers had an option to put a name plate there and a back-light. Evidently Shasta did not do that (At least not on ours). I have considered the idea of running a wire and switch and inserting a light, but it's pretty low on the priority list for me right now. You might be able to make an insert for that space. Anyone else have any ideas? -Paul

Here's the beginning of Sundance's retrofit. The curved portion for a socket holder is molded into the handle and there are two small tapable holes. I used a simple strap to anchor a modern socket in place... Attachments:

Here's the light on.. Many of these lights had the slot; they were for the owner's name or whatever one requested... This light didn't have the slot. Attachments:

Interesting project:
What about an LED light? Smaller, easier to mount....
