Well after a year of tear down and reframing... I'm finally ready to wire. The repairs that happened before me showed holes drilled out or notches carved out of the frame pieces for wiring. Today's 1x2s or 1x3s are smaller than yester-years, so I'm wondering is it ok to just squeeze the wires between the frame and aluminum skin without notching out holes? Obviously I would have to do a hole or 2 to go through ceiling. Help?

If your running new, ideal way would be to drill smallest hole possible, then use rubber or plastic "collars" inside the holes for the wires to run through. Better yet inside flexible plastic conduit purchased at any local flea market nowadays. Put all wires inside then run the conduit through as a harness. If already wired and still using old, it's easier to notch the ribs replaced and use a flexible plastic wire strap. Good luck and remember, this is just my opinion and I'm sure there will be others too! Soup

I agree. A small hole is much safer and keeps the wire from being pinched. These trailers move a lot going down the road, so you want them protected. My Dad (engineer) always said a round hole wouldn't cause structural problems if it was less than 1/2 the width of the board... If you're concerned with that, you can add blocks to double the board.

Soup... Hey don't LOL! I'm a history teacher... Wiring is NOT my thing. thanks for the definite NO on the other idea. I figured it wasn't the best idea BUT if there was a chance, I was going to go for it. What do you mean by put the conduit through after running the wires?
