We have to make a food list at work when we do a pot luck to keep everyone from bringing desserts then again that's all they want me to bring! Just a thought. Everytime we have done this before everyone makes a large plate of food and there are tons of leftovers at every group meal. Do we want to do large plates but we don't all bring food to every group meal? Say we choose a dinner and breakfast? At potlucks we tell folks to bring enough to feed their family plus a LITTE extra. So a good variety but not many left overs. Or 1 dinner and 1 breakfast but larger quantity. Either works for me

I'd rather have more variety by having each person bring lesser of their meal but I can either way too.

I like the idea of smaller portions & more variety too. We might wind up with a couple of the same dishes, but made completely different. For example, all the potato salad I had ever eaten before I met the hubby was "southern style" made with mustard and relish. But the only kind he will eat is the "northern style" that doesn't have either in it. While I don't like the kind he does (bc it has celery in it!) and vice versa, it still creates variety. But if you only want to bring a larger dish to half of the meals, I'm sure we will have plenty of food to go around I think it would be really neat too if you're bringing something special you could bring (or PM me) the recipe so we can swap with each other. If you PM me I'll print copies and we can display them with your dish so people can take the recipe as they please or if I get enough I could even throw a little rally cookbook together Just make sure to reference if you got it from another source. I don't want to be a plagiarizer! Just throwing out ideas so let me know what you think

For one of the breakfasts, I know I am bringing mixed fruit you can load into a waffle cone with yogurt or you can just dump it on your plate. I went to a wedding recently with a cowboy country theme and they had a Grits Bar!! I would have grits in my crock pot if others think it is a good idea??? Cannot decide on the dinners.

Ken and I are making custom Bingo cards using vintage trailer names for us to be able to play BINGO. I'm donating a "Glamping with Mary Jane" hardcover book for the grand prize (probably fill the board) and since I planned on bringing some of my vintage yard sale items I will donate of those items too for one of the regular bingo games. Is anyone else interested in this idea and can/will you donate one of your 'vintage yard sale' items for the other games? or kto17 do we have any goodies from our sponsors that can be used as prizes? Not real sure what we are getting. The packages have not arrived yet. I think one should be here tomorrow.

I like the smaller dishes idea. I was thinking of making a chicken pot pie for one of the dinners...is that too big? Cuz I can come up with something else.

I, for one, love grits! And chicken pot pie sounds delish! (though if it has celery in it please take no offence if I don't eat it) Like Susan said, plan to make about the same size you would make for a meal at home. Maybe a tad more. If everyone brings something to each meal in a quantity to feed everyone, can you imagine how big our plates would need to be to fit it all....much less our stomachs!!! We wouldn't be able to move to participate in any of the activities that are in store for us! I know that's the extremist way of looking at it and I'm only pointing it out in jest, but it is something to keep in mind while planning. As more people post and we get closer to the rally, I will post the food lists for each meal to give everyone an idea of the menu.

Thanks to everyone who has already started your food lists! I think it will help everyone else decide what to bring as well as getting us all excited for the yummy food we will get to share!
Anymore thoughts on the cookbook idea? I'd like to put one together as a kind of souvenir of the rally. I'd really love to be able to get a recipe from each member that is going. It wouldn't necessarily have to be a recipe of a dish that you're bringing. It could be a recipe of anything you like to make while camping. We could even include a picture of your camper and what site you're in or something like that. Am I coming up with this too close to the rally or is that something that you think is doable between now and then?

Mmmmm. I'm hungry!
Offspring and I may have fight over Gotwings homemade chicken pot pie. Its very good!
Kristi has volunteered to bring her big coffee maker and waffle maker. I made a special request, Gotwings' mommy is coming in town Thursday from upstate NY, and she is bringing us some real syrup they make locally up there!
If someone wants to bring coffee, sugar and creamer, or bisquick that would be great.

Of course... we have had a couple trees taken down in our yard. We will be bringing plenty of wood and would LOVE visitors....I am perfectly ok with breaking the noise ordinance. I'm a lawyer, I will work on the loophole.
