I have a Bargman L-66 lock but no keys so I ordered blanks from a supply company. I wanted to remove it to clean it and take it to a locksmith. After removing the 4 major screws (and making sure I actually had the handle "open" so the part that goes in the other side of the door was retracted) I still couldn't get it out. The inside piece came off but the outside piece seems stuck on the end that retracts. I'm afraid to crank on too hard because I assume there's some little secret that I don't know that'll help me get it out. Could someone clue me in?

yeah, seems like there are 2 long screws into the end that retracts, you have to remove the end piece and they are under there,,, I think?

A new lock cylinder and keys is fairly cheap. Vintage Trailer Supply has them for about $18 or so.
You could drill out the cylinder and then push the side pin in to remove the cylinder. Otherwise I'm almost certain you need the key to remove the cylinder.
I you could take the whole outside piece to the locksmith but it will likely cost much more than $20.

Thanks for the tips. As soon as the monsoon passes I'll go take a look again. Saving money would be a fabulous idea since I just returned from the hardware store after having spent over $400 but I got myself a Kreg Jr. and a Bosch multitool (on sale) among many other things. Let the spending begin.

There is a video of how to change the lock cylinder. It's really easy but you need to turn the cylinder with the key to a certain point to push in the retaining pin. Without the key you can carefully drill it out or pay the locksmith.
If you open the door and look at the side where the latch is on the side on the side of the outside piece just to the left of the cylinder there is a small hole. That's where the retaining pin is. You drill where the key goes so you can push the pin with a pick or something small. Then it just pushes out from the inside. I can post pics if you need them.
