The shallac and the formica is unbelievable! I found a flooring yesterday that is retro red that I bought. The subfloor is done and is ready for my floor. My counter and tables will be in boomerang. The red formica turned out great. The shine is awesome. I worked on the finish stuff today, did the windows, shined and took off rust and lubed the cranks. Researched a fridge. My fridge will go to the right of your stove, Mobiltec. I am torn between an icebox for $150 and a two way for in upwards of $800. what to do. I like to camp off the grid. A plain 110 isnt an option. The backsplash looks amazing too...Shasta envy..

Mobiltec, that is turning out so beautifully! We are in the middle of a week of scattered thunderstorms so it has really slowed down what we can do on Spam. I've been using the time to research how to put her back together (love your videos) and sourcing parts, formica, etc. for when we get to that stage. I'm ready for the rain to go away so I can get back out there!

Thanks for the compliments. Much appreciated. Speaking of parts, there is a guy who I show in one of my videos that scraps vintage trailers and you see me picking up the seats for this trailer in that video. This trailer only came with cusions. He has LOTS of windows and just about any kind of part one could want. He's not cheap but he DOES ship now. When I first met him he wasn't shipping. So if anyone out there is looking for a window or tail lights or lamps or what ever, this is the guy to talk to first. I will post more info in a more appropriate thread but here's the video and his contact info.rwbjav@yahoo.com More photos of his stuff... www.flickr.com/photos/94134201@N08/

I'm to broke to work on mine for a bit, I went by the upholstery shop today, they got my vinyl in for the seats, the colors look great, they were suppose to have them done around tomorrow, but her dad got sick so it may be another week or so.

Well I got the table finished. Now I just have to build the leg. The one you see is just a stick to hold it up for the photo.... Now I'm off for a weekend of fun at our Old Farts Skydiving meet. It's a bunch of really old guys who jump out of perfectly good airplanes for no other reason than to have fun. At 61, Im one of the youngsters.... See you all when I return.

That is just breathtakingly beautiful, mobiltec. Have fun with the jumping - you'll be terrorizing Lake Elsinore?

No we are terrorizing Taft this weekend.
Here's a photo of us jumping at Taft. I'm in the light blue jumpsuit in the lower right corner. The guy on my left has a red helmet. Two of the people in this formation only have one leg.

Nothing on the Shasta but I fixed up a old fan so that it matches my appliances. Oh no, am I glamping?

Mobiltec....what did you do to your formica to make it so shiny? I'm not sure I want to do it, but I have a test piece left over that I could try it on.
Yes, Schweet, painting an old fan to match your trailer appliances is dangerously close to glamping.

It comes that way. Bob and Cindy had two rolls. One red cracked ice and one yellow cracked ice. It's very thin and very old and we have to put it out in the sun to get it to flatten out. It was really expensive. But that is it without anything but wiping the dust off. I just figured you had a magical polish for Formica like the VCT! FYI Armstrong Excellon has been discontinued, I was only able to locate two bottles in the entire Denver area, both were at the same H/D and they had been marked down a whole $.25!! Amazon is out, lowes is out, etc.. I did your method this weekend for the VCT, I'm going to buff it tomorrow but I'm pretty happy with the results so far! Thanks! it sounds like it came that way.

Will be giving Hamlet a good clean toady in preparation for living part-time in him while we do major reconstruction on our tiny 1939 bungalow. It's currently the "Compact" of pre WW2 homes, but we're turning it into a "Model 19 Deluxe". But as with Hamlet, by the time we're done, it'll look like it was designed that way from the very beginning.

well today I am cleaning the garage up, throwing away all the extra pieces of boards, trash, sawdust, etc to make room to start cutting and installing my subfloor, so that counts as working on the shasta right?

Again nothing on the Shasta, but I added Air-Lift airbags to the rear suspension. This should eliminate any spring sag, due to the extremely soft springs Nissan used.! I mounted the schrader valves to the 7 pin harness mount oh yeah, we planned our first trip!

Schweet you took all the fun out of filling your air bags, you are supposed to wait till a rainy day and you are parked in the mud then crawl under the truck to fill right at the bag. That looks like a very good place to mount the valves I'm proud of you.

Smccusk I don't think there is a name for it. If there is the owner would know because he had the painter of his truck send me a sample and my painter had it matched by a computer mixer. But if you like you can ask him yourself as he is a member on this board under the name of shastazephyr. He's just a few posts up in this thread. His name is Ed. Wonderful guy and will be a great addition to our community. His truck is a 55 Chevy and I showed that somewhere in this thread also. Or maybe in the two vehicle thread. I actually have a big sample on aluminum I can send you a chunk of if you PM me your address. Only thing is Ed would have to give me the OK to send it... I'm sure he will have no problem with that but I gotta ask.

Still working on the screen door. Last coat of shellac tonight. Same with the table leg and a little door trim for the inside. Got the gas lamp up... Lots of little details tomorrow and then it goes back to the paint shop on Saturday for a 4 hour detail job. Sunday it goes away forever to it's new home up the coast. I hope it has a happy life.
