Not for absolute sure on the 1500. I haven't seen one like it on any Shastas before. It may have been added to cover up something, air conditioner for example. I think it has the size to be a fridge vent but I haven't seen one with louvers that large before.

I don't think it's original either... Looks to have had a cover on it from the old putty and screw holes...

I have one of those... but it didn't have the louvers on the inside. Wonder if mine was missing a part or two?
Personally, I think these things are ugly but they are perfect for installing an under counter gas fridge...

I agree it is ugly. But think I am going to make a positive out of the negative and install a a/c unit where the fridge was and use the vent to my advantage. Maybe get a new cover louvered to cover up the mess.

Knotty, be sure to vent the sides of the A/C as well. You need to be sure the hot air can escape...
