I found a few posts about this, but not a lot. Sorry if I'm re-plowing the same ground here...
Wondering about pros and cons of using some Azek. I'm thinking of two applications. 1). The skirt boards (if that's the right term)-- the boards running back to front parallel to the ground. 2) the curbing -- the curved strips that the edge rail/j rail and skin is fastened to.
In the case of the skirt boards for rot prevention; in the case of the curbing for flexibility. So far, these two spots are where I've found the greatest damage.
The stuff is not cheap, and I'm still trying to find info on how well it will hold the staples and screws.
Thoughts?

I would be concerned with the attachment of a PVC product. The skirt boards are part of the strength/structure of the trailer. Would the PVC weaken with road vibration, especially at the attachment points? (good idea to research)
This product seems to be more useful in a decorative and weather resistant use. As far as being rot resistant, you really wouldn't need that if the trailer is sealed and stored properly.
JMO, but I would use real wood.

I used pvc to replace the 3/4" glued plywood strip that runs along the top of the walls. It won't rot and it held screws very well...also very easy to work with.

Thanks. I'm going to do some more homework. I did pocket screw a piece of azek to the wood I'm using to replace the framing, and it's a very secure joint. (I love my pocket screw jig!)
It may come down to cost. Azek is pricey, and the inexpensive wood they put in 50 years ago did hold up pretty well despite some obvious abuse. I should be watching the budget more closely. I went a little nuts at harbor freight last week with one of their sales. Having a blast, though.
Speaking of budget, I can't remember who here recommended bolt depot, but I just ordered my ss screws at almost 40% less than Some other options i saw online. Thanks for the tip!
