Hello all! Long time no post, I just wanted to ask a question of all of you. I just ordered a 6" drop ball mount to use with my Ford Explorer towing a 1969 Starflyte. I previously had a 1" drop ball mount I would use with a 1964 Alladdin, and continued to use it with my Shasta, but it always had the trailer tongue riding way too high. Other than piece of mind, and more clearance for the rear bumper, what benefits are there to having your trailer ride down the road level? Tire wear, fuel consumption are a few obvious things I can think of (how much will these be affected?), but are there any other things? BTW is anybody going to the XXX rally in Issaquah WA Cinco de Mayo weekend? It was a lot of fun last year, and I can't wait to get the Shasta out for the weekend. As always thanks so much to everyone! This site has been so valuable while rebuilding our trailer.

I have read that it helps with sway. Also read the new RV fridges are not as sensitive but the older ones would fail sooner if they were on and the trailer was not level in tow.
I'm not taking any chances and have an adjustable drop hitch I keep in the truck and I'm buying one with the correct drop for the Shasta.

I use a 6" drop on my Pathfinder, it's mainly astectics for me, I hate it when the trailer is at a angle!

Yeah it looks pretty goofy drivin' down the road, that's for sure!
