Introducing our 1952 Lakewood trailer. I'm freaking stoked! Unfortunately we sold the Shasta that we were going to fix up, but decided this was in much better condition. Brought her home last week and making plans. So far I stripped most of the house paint off of it and cleaned it out. It cleaned up nicely. Next is the windows and seals. I live in the high desert in California. If there's anyone close by , we'd love to meet. Attachments:

Nice trailer! I live in the Riverside area and am up in the high desert many times during the year. I'd love to meet up with you guys sometime. There is a vintage trailer rally at Mojave Oasis at the end of this month. You might want to stop by and check it out.

Mobiltec? Boy do I have questions for you. lol . That would be awesome to meet up. I just googled Mojave oasis and I think we may have missed it by two days.? However feel free to message me if you'd like to come by and see the trailer. There are still a couple of things I need to get done in order to have her road legal (registered). By the way thank you for the videos. They help. Even though I haven't really done anything yet. I think I have somewhat of an idea.

Im not sure if I will be making it or not to Oasis because of a deadline Im on right now but you should drive there for the day on Saturday. It's always Open House on the Saturday of any rally and that means all the trailers are open for your inspection and photo ops. You can ask all kinds of questions and see all kinds of different ideas. My email addy is on my website. You can contact me there.

Well update is that I met some great people at the he Newberry Springs camp out. Although we didn't take the trailer, there were many friendly people. Since then the trailer had break lights, running lights, wheel bearings packed. Not to mention we're new registered owners. Next to take the skin off and check some of the framework. Now I need to decide whether or not to shine it or just acid wash it. Any thoughts?

Glad you met some of the locals and had a good time. On your decision, just keep in mind that there is aluminum that is made for polishing and aluminum that doesn't polish so good. Most do not. When I have seen painted trailers polished you can usually see the old paint lines. Someone else might have a more professional opinion but so far that has been my experience. Now a clean satin look is kinda nice. I have a photo somewhere of a 57 Westerner that they did that to. They scotch brighted it during and after stripping just for one rally. He even put red masking tape on the sides and front just for some detail just for that rally. It looked so good that he left it that way and I think it's still that way today. Looks great! Something to consider. I'll see if I can find the photo.

I don't know if this will work out not. I think a lot has to do with who you have to do the polishing for you. I belive some people find that doing the job themselves ends up being way more work then they expected. However paying donor to do it is a lot more money then expected. I have another week of school then I'll dig into the framework. Pretty excited www.flickr.com/photos/jessboob/sets/72157633848720412/
