Yup; they are actually selling 4 vintage trailers as a group, for $1000. Looks like 2 Loflytes, a Compact, and an SOB. Not in good dhape, but gee, the price is right. Lots of good parts: evansville.craigslist.org/rvs/3795138824.html

Hey, the Compact may not have wings, but it comes with green HAIR!!! Guy said that was a tree growing through the compact, they just sawed it off under camper to move. Wonder if I can fix roof and leaf the tree in there? Bah Dah Bing! Look closer in the pics and you'll see the tree trunk sticking out of the roof of the compact. It's like 6" in diamiter and it is sticking out of the roof by like 4 feet!! That won't buff out. I'll have to take my chain saw and cut it off for transport. That will be a first. Chainsaw a tree inside a compact. I'll have to video that for yall! Thanks for posting hoosierpoet, mark it sold!

Restoring them all to their original beauty? I here ya man.. Well, I'll find the piece I need somewhere, or I'll mill out of a piece of bar stock?lol I don't know if that Loflyte up there has the trimed out door or not. I am only seeing that total "3-side" door trim on the 71's and some 70's..Odd

But on the other hand he could take it out and shave it into veneer and make his own interior paneling. Hamlet with advisers like us he will have a multitude of options before long.

Bigbill, Hamlet, It's always nice to know you have friends who are willing to help out! LOL Take a real good close look at the 1st pick of the fronts of the trailers. evansville.craigslist.org/rvs/3795138824.html(Compact in foreground) Top right corner of pic. See the vertical tree trunk that looks like it had pine bows growing off it? Look closer between the branches/leaves on front street corner of roof and back of roof. Those pine limbs are not attached to that 5 foot tall 6-8" round tree trunk. See the tree trunk sticking out of the roof like 4 or 5 feet straight up? I can pretty much imagine the roof peeling apart but am wondering what the tree did to the floor? Shame, rest of compact all there, all fixtures and a cool quilted back splash above stove. All 4 campers have all their fixtures and appliances. The Fan looks to have a teal colored stove in it. The Lowflyte has its main dinette benches and overhead cabinet missing. Pathfinder, I'll be looking towards you for bench side piece measurements later! I hope everything goes well with this deal. It would give me work for like 10 months to a year. That's about as much job security as anyone could hope for in my shoes. I can't hardly sleep now and I keep having visions of a vintage camper caravan 4 deep with various rigging and tow rigs towing and hauling the whole mess across 64 and North on 65, all at one time and finally having the warm fuzzy feeling knowing you own that caravan behind you heading home! What a mess-O-Shasta! There will be about a week there when right before Mountainkimmie and Bossfan pick their campers up, there will be a total of 8 vintage campers on my property at one time. Wonder what the neighbors will be thinking that week?? I'm so excited I can hardly wait to go get them all. (my gang) I hope to get them all home in just one trip.

Soup the way the rock guard is hanging on the front I would say that most of the front framing is gone but it looks like the skin is in decent shape. It will be interesting to hear what you find when you get them apart. I would cut that tree out before I ever moved the unit you don't want it to shift and destroy anymore than it already has. also if you can get a large enough low boy to haul them that would probably be the best idea, it looks like you will need either ropes or straps to secure loose parts to keep the wind from causing farther damage on the way home. If you knew somebody with a hot shot that would haul them cheap that might be the best way home.

The DOT here would have a field day on me here in Indiana if I didn't. Loose skin on the fan will need some 1 foot square pcs of plywood held up inside and run a screw through from the outside just to hold together. Straps completely around that one like a huge cargo net. Evansville to Cinti. is a major freight line and I'm still looking to find an empty back haul for someone wanting to just cover fuel to get their truck back to Cinti. I've already started calling trucking company owners I know who haul in that area. I used to haul empty palstic whiskey bottles down to there and bring back huge rolls of paper (6) or a load of Ragu spegetti sauce back 5 days a week. The deal was really freeking me out till I reminded myself, I would buy as many of these I could get my hands on locally for $350 each so why not travel a bit for 4 in one whack! Besides, like I told my wife, it's job security for me for at least 10 months. Once home, that huge worry of where my next meal is comming from will melt away with just worries of level walls and pocket screws left for me to worry about then. I can smell the fresh lumber already!

Heading out in the AM before daybreak for the 4 hour tour. Hope to be bringing 2 back on the return 4 hour tour. State highways route. 15 min more time than expressway route but is 25 miles less and is about 20 bucks cheaper on fuel. See yall out on IN state route 50 tomorrow! Lowflyte will be on deck Starflyte getting towed. Be doing a bearing job there before leaving with tow. Got 2 15" rim/tires, 2 13" rim/tires and 1 14" in case I need another! (all I could get my hands on) Laundry list, I'm sure I over packed; extra extension ramps, newly fabricated tongue ramp, 6 spare tires including 1 for the car hauler, air compressor, extra tank of air, 5 gal extra deisel, mechanic ramps for under car hauler front tires to help lower back deck height so trailers won't drag arse while loading. Torch, tools, air hose, dry towels, duct tape, tow lights, cotter pins, grease and grease gun, CB radio, gun, sunglasses, coffee, cameras still and video, tripod and much more...... Unexpected repairs on car hauler the past 3 days before these two trips; 2 new batteries new starter new front brakes and bearings packed front end lube lube all u-joints gear lube in wench Drilled deck for new tongue ramp pin side marker lamps rewire (2)
Jezz the last week of stress and the hundred$ spent on repairs just to even be able to go on the two trips. Lots of stuff other members like me might not realize until they jump in with both feet. Hopefully within the next 24 hours there will be 2 more Shastas here at home.
I think I'm going crazy with all the stress of the whole deal. I have almost pulled the plug a few times in the past couple of days with all the unexpected truck repairs and all. No guts, no glory!
Breaker 1 9 How bout ya east bound, got a copy? Howz it look over yer donkey?

"Lookin' good back where we left behind, hammer down and enjoy the scenery!"
Just one question...why the gun? Sounds like you may be too busy to go hunting for lunch!
May want to add a couple cans of Fix-a-Flat to the laundry list there...can't be too careful.
One more thing you gotta have now is a Photobucket account! It will be absolutely unacceptable for you to have all this fun and adventure without posting up yer journeys here!!
Get some sleep!

What did I need fix a flat for, when I had an air compressor, extra air tank and half a dozen spare tires and rims with me? LOL I even brough my impact gun. (Both of them LOL)
Why the gun?!! Here is a word for the wise.... ipac Never leave home without it!! Especially when going somewhere off of CL with them knowing I'm showing up with cash. You never know what your getting into. Ever hear of the CL killings here, where they were offering employment and killing the applicants that showed up? Horrible. I'd be a complete fool if I didn't take my side arm. I have a carry permit and use that permit anytime I leave my property. Actually sometimes I can even be seen packing a pistol in my own property too! The second amendment of The Constitution of The United States is there to make us citizens and not subjects. So are my firearms.
What a complete PITA!! The field they were parked in, the grass was grown to the height of the top of my truck hood. (Why yes, I DID have a can of OFF with me sense the tics have been so bad here this year) Hosed me down from head to tow! It turned into a hard 12 hour day. I brought back the Compact with the tree sticking out of the roof and the Lowflyte. By the time I got there someone had already vandalized the Startflyte and most if not all window glass was busted out and someone damaged the door, door frame, and skin next to door beyond repair by breaking into it before I got there. Even still had the railroad spike they used to break in still sticking into the wall skin next to door. The worse one, the Fan has some awesome parts in it. Original mag rack and awsome teal colored stove, sink, and fridge door all a nice shade of teal. Way too much work, pain and suffering to even think of a camera or pics untill I got home. (Sorry the job was too difficult to even think of the camera) However, I did make you guys a quick video when I got home. I'll post it up later. If anyone has any interest in the starflyte or the Fan better jump on it. The seller is a bit wiser now and said he is waiting a week or so and posting them on ebay. But if you get hold of him before then you can get one or both of the other two I left. If you catch him before he does you could get a great deal on a fixer upper and a great parts unit. I'm not making the second trip. The first one took too much out of me. Must have been a sight on the highway. Every so often a trucker would hit me up on the CB wanting to talk campers! Highlight of the day was on the way home I found a fuel stop that had a pump that ran slow enough to pump fuel directly in tank and not use the 5 gallon can to prevent overflow. The place even had fresh fried chicken (yummy) and luckily I filled the 5 gal can again. It was about 1 in the afternoon by then and I had not even had breakfast yet. Forgot to get a Dew before I got there so I had nothing to eat or drink there. Big mistake sense with all the hard work I started going through a low suger event. Real bummer when I finally got done it was almost 60 miles before I even saw a fuel stop or anything but farm land and oil wells. So the first one I saw had slow pumps and chicken, AWSOME. I was traveling along state route 50 so going through towns looking for next fuel stop. Didn't have enough to make it home. EVERY town I came to, every one of their gas stations had lines in them like during the fuel shortage in the 70's. I guess due to low number of stations in each town coupled with everyone and their cousins were out driving the holiday weekend. I finally pulled over in North Vernon IN on the side of the road and added that 5 gal can a fuel to the tank and made it home! I'm settin a 2 hour one way limit on any camper purchases in the future unless it is just totally over the top on quality for less than $500! LOL First time I had a camper on the car hauler. I almost lost it off the ramps several times while loading. No way to steer and I was setting on a slight incline so the camper wanted to keep trying to slide off the drivers side. I'm happy with what I got to bring home, at two hundy each, whats not to be happy with? Well I'm not to giddy over the dead cat in the compact or the drawer full of cat fur the mice had tore off the cat to use as bedding YUK! Video to follow soon.....

Soup even with all the fun you had I am glad you made it back with no permanent damage to you or anything else. Just think of all the things you learned on this latest adventure and in another hundred years it won't seem near as bad. What part of the world do you live in? In retrospect I'm starting to get jacked up about going back and getting the other two I left there. I won't pack as much stuff for the next trip though! If you are ever going to be in my area for gambling boats or whatever, drop me a PM and let me know you're heading down this way and we'll meet up for a chat! Just wonder if you are still thanking me for the post, or maybe quietly cursing me for getting you into this? No really, it's all good, Thank You for posting. I've been wanting to go back down to get the other two! Good thing is, the seller was a nice guy who I got along with and they have a section of the campground that has more campers they are going to clear out, and they said they would call me first before posting again when they have more campers pulled out for me to pick up!! So I left a couple of my new business cards for them and the board of directors there. AWESOME!! Hope to finish the video soon. I closed them up and bug bombed them so I haven't gotten video of the inside yet. Thought I would leave them shut up with the bug bombs for a few days, maybe even gas the fur covered creatures that way too. LOL I also gave the two I brought home a bath yesterday and they look even better now that all the black moss is washed off. Out of the two I brought home, I only had 1 broken window on the back of the compact. It has a BB hole in it so not too bad for now. I think I cherry picked the pile when I was there but I still am wanting the starflyte and Fan! I am sick with it huh?

It's an insidious disease! Now you've got ME wanting to go down and "just look around" - I've always loved old junkyards and the like, the place sounds absolutely facinating. Thankfully, my husband would kill me if I brought anything else home! So iI'll resist the urge...

Soup I get down that way every now and then, when we go to Louisville we cut around Cincinnati and go down along the river and cross at the locks. It takes a little longer but much nicer ride. I am glad you recovered from your trip, the next trip will be easier because you know what to expect. Do you have a winch on your trailer? I went to Harbor Freight about five years ago and bought a 12 volt winch for around $50.00 it made loading every thing much easier and safer. If I get a few more "projects" out of the way I hope to start on the Shasta. I got it covered and drying out, have killed all the wasps (I hope) so the next step is demo to see how much structure damage there is.
