So, I had to decide if I wanted to get new rims for my 62 Airflyte or if I wanted to fix up and paint my current rims. i decided on the latter but then was faced with the hub cap question. I took my rims to Discount Tire and they said I could order custom baby moons for my rims. They took the serial number off my 1960's Ford rims which fit the trailer nicely and ordered moons to fit them. The cost was $80 for each moon so it was not cheap, but at least I know the rims will work. Just another option for getting the look we wanted... well almost.. we didn't get the white walls we wanted for fear of the tire rating not meeting our loaded weight but oh well. Gonna look great anyway.

So much for the custom baby moons! The didn't fit. Well, they didn't fit the right spot anyway. I am glad that I had the tile company order them ($180) so when they didn't fit, I was able to be disappointed and not mad....

Go to JC Whitney's web site then do a search for "baby moon hub caps" you will find two different brands and between them they offer four different sizes ( ID measure 10 1/8", 9 1//8", 8 3/4", 8 5/16" ) the price runs from $53.33 to $67.12 for a set of four.

The 13 inch wheels use one of the two small sizes but I don't remember which one.

Thanks Big Bill - I will see if I can tell what size will fit. I run on 15" Ford rims.

The factory wheels on your Shasta should be 5x4.5 inch Ford wheels, vintage 1949 and later. The "moons" are the original 49-50 Ford hubcaps without the FORD stamped into them. They are available from Vintage Trailer Supply.
