Anyone have a good source for Gimp/welting besides Vintage Trailer Supply? ?? You can call Fletcher's fletcherstrailersales.com/Or most rv centers with a repair shop should have it, although what your going to find is the rubber stuff and not the original vinyl rapped cord. Shasta actually made their gimp as they went along, so if you want the orginal you'll need to buy some cord and vinyl, and make it!

Schweet did you use the rubber stuff or make your own? I used the rubber stuff, but I bought it locally at a rv repair shop that had a huge spool of it and I was able to buy it in infinite lengths.

I skipped the gimp and went with flexible quarteround for the curves. www.flextrim.com/ I have had very good experience with the quality and customer support from Sailrite, so I suspect that this is a great product...and way better than rubber. IF you don't want vinyl and can source something nearer to the original. Making cording is not that difficult. You do want to do it on the bias (the video below doesn't do that but otherwise is good) no sew fleamarket.about.com/od/diyrepairsrestyling/ss/makingwelt.htmHow to make 18 yds of welt cord from 1/2 yd of fabric if using 5/32 welt cord youtu.be/dTWbRPv9HZo and youtu.be/sRmMEsto6ks

I did too but I bought two complete spools so I have tons of the stuff in two shades. Beige and white. Not all RV repair shops sell it but check your local one before you end up paying for shipping. The one I bought from was going out of business.

Don't want to buy too much or too little. 280 feet is what I bought, I ended up with about 10 feet left over. That was to do everything, walls cabinets, etc. I also had to redo some of it because I wasn't happy with the way it turned out or I rebuilt something like a cabinet.

Pink sheep....I ended up making about 200ft of welt for about $25-$30. I haven't installed it yet because we are working outside in New England and it has been raining on and off for weeks. Can't take the roof off till the sun will stay out for a while. I am not doing a total resto either thou
