Hi all, I have started a blog to track our progress in restoring our Pink Shasta Compact. This is the first blog I've attempted, so I'm working out the bugs (and by bugs I mean my complete lack of computer savvy). Here it is: shastapearl.blogspot.com/

Congratulations on your new addition! Read your blog and look forward to more. Pearl is a real cutie! I can tell by the sense of humor in it you are going to love this forum. Not only is it the most helpful place to be but the members are great and after a long, hard, pull your hair out, what tricky thing am I going to find next, stressful day of restoring you will always find something here to bring you a smile or at least make the process a hec of a lot easier!...Janet

Hey, could be twins separated at birth! Thanks everyone for visiting our blog. I've learned so much already from reading people's blogs and posts. This is a great site! I hope to share anything that I learn along the way, but honestly, you'll probably be learning from my mistakes what NOT to do

I'm following. So to keep the doom bringer happy are you going to have to put a jolly roger on the side you could make it a pink jolly roger to keep the princess happy? ;D
Luckily mine are 1.5 and 3.5 so they are too young to vote, although they try.

Add me to the list of those who will be following your blog. Have you checked the obvious places, mirror back and under the sink to see if there are any identifying dates, if you did not get a Title saying it was a 1961? Mine started out as an untitled 1960 and quickly became a 1961 because of the mirror date stamp. I know you will have much fun with your Compact and we will have much fun following your blog.

Hi,
I read your blog. FWIW, I installed the Tarkett flooring you have pictured in your blog in my '62. It's cute, but a little soft, or spongy feeling. It should last, but heels could damage it if your not careful... I noticed this after dropping something on it and it left and impression.

I wondered about that, it feels different than other resilient flooring. Did the impression stay or gradually fade away?

slow on the reply On the impressions, it just depends on what made the impression. Things with hard (sharp) edges may be permanent, softer edges may or may not come out (depending if they were created by a momentary impact from falling, or if something sat on the flooring too long) I can see having to be very careful with it if it is going to last. I could always cover over it with a different flooring down the line) jeff
