Just when things seem to be going smoothly something happens. Story of our lives! Yesterday I asked Alan a question. He walked towards the garage to come and help me out and as he did he caught a window crank handle that was sticking out. He had removed windows to paint and had it leaning. When he fell so did the window and his steel toe boot went through the window and broke every single pane! He was okay. More shook up than anything as was I. He fell hard on the asphalt, I would have been crying but he just used a few choice words and got back up and used a few more. Anyway, what do we do about the panes? Thinking we can go to the hardware store and have some cut and then smooth the edges or perhaps find a window someone has as extra. Suggestions always appreciated....Janet

Loy, I need four glass panes that measure 20 1/4 x 4 inches. If you have them and are willing to part with them I sure would love to buy them from you. I haven't priced having them cut yet and I have no idea what that would cost! Thanks for the offer.

Shoot. My windows are either 15" or 36" wide. Hmmm. I guess you can ask about having the 36" cut down and compare that against having actual size panes cut.

Jalousie windows are very reasonable. If you can put one back together for reference, I am sure a glass company will be able to make as many as you need at a very reasonable rate. I got a single piece cut for one that broke on my '61 Compact during my tow home, and it cost me about $3.75 (including tax) to have a new one cut, that fit perfectly.

Where would we all be without choice words?

Tomorrow we pick up our window glass. We called three places and went from $8 per piece, to $21 per piece and finally found someone to do it for $4 per piece. It does pay to call around!
