Hi everyone
I have a pair of wood wings that are fabricated and the metal to cover them. Cant find a source who can wrap the wings with the metal trim? Do u know anyone wha can fabricate them or a trim source? Any way not to have to torch the metal to wrap them? Just got out of the hospital so limited physical strength but have all the materials except the trim and someone to help. Thx so much!

Hi winebuff. To me the trim looks like the stuff they use to trim the table. I'm not sure but thats what it looks like to me. Tanya and Coralee

I thought about that too T and C. The hard part is trying to get it to round out ok on the edges. I have heard you need to torch it but thx, I forgot that suggestion. I wonder if u can buy that where it is a bit more flexible do u know? Thx so much

You guys are on the right track. My daughter replaced her countertop in her 50's rambler and gave me the metal edge trim just in case I might find a use for it. When I started making my wings the light bulb went off and poof it worked perfectly for trimming the wings. Not sure where you could find some but it sure worked for me.

Shutzee, did it bend ok around the round edges or did u have to heat the metal up with a torck and bend and pound it out?

It went on like butter . Really easy. Hope you can find some of it somewhere. My wings turned out okay. Someday, I may find some original ones but for now they will do. I'm all about original restoration work but this was an area I can be flexible with. Attaching a photo. Attachments:

I also noticed that it looked like the trim on my dinette was about the same thing...maybe when you are in a flea market or a used furniture store you could could be on the look-out for a broken down table top of that era that might have similar trim, or in the used furniture store ask if they have any parts from old formica topped tables from that era in the back...many times they cannibalize a couple of old broken tables to produce one fit to sell, and they might have some trim laying around they would sell you, cheaper than sourcing a replacemet piece on the internet if you can even find a source..

There is a place in Oregon called interstatemetals.com that might have your trim. These guys a great! They have the aluminum siding, drip rails and all sorts of stuff for rebuilding out trailers. Tanya and Coralee

I got the metal that covers the body from Interstate and yes they are great. They said they didnt have naything that would wrap around the round edges for the trim. I just had surgery las week but in a couple weeks I will try and get the dinette molding and hope that it will work. Thx!
