Can't help but wonder if the installation direction would make a difference.. In most cars, the bulb socket comes straight out, so you are seeing the 'tip' of the bulb when you are behind it.. However my camper taillight bulbs are mounted sideways..
They dont specify or show a picture of 'running light' mode vs. 'brake light' mode but it does look like there are LEDs on the end of the setup.. Perhaps as taillights, then when you step on the brales the entire thing lights up?
If thats the case, they wouldn't work very well as running lights.. at least not in my taillights~
In an older car or truck that takes 1157 bulbs, maybe they would be fine~
