How do y'all keep the mice our of your trailer during the winter? I don't have a garage and the mice are relentless around here. I need a foolproof mouse deterrent, if there is such a thing.

Well... this is just hearsay. I haven't actually tried any of these.
Bounce fabric sheets. They don't like the smell. Just place them around the trailer and maybe in areas they may nest.
Peppermint extract or dried peppermint. Again they don't like it. The extract is used to soak cotton balls and placed in and around the trailer.
I have also heard that moth balls work but I wouldn't want to use them. You have to stay in the trailer at some point.
I think the above used along with sealing up the trailer as tight as possible would work.
Let us know if you try any of these.

Oh geez, I didn't think about that. Thanks for the tips Brian. I'll definitely be trying those.

I've been having pretty good luck (knock on wood) with the little plug in noisemaker rodent deterrent things. They seem to be pretty affective but of course you need to be hooked up to electricity.

You can put the mothballs on the ground around/under the trailer to keep the mice out too. If they won't walk over to the trailer they won't go in the trailer.

I recommend having a cat around. Ours is great about keeping them out of our shed.

Ahh! Great idea. It's about time these freeloaders start earning their dinner!

We tried the dryer sheets in our two campers and that seemed to work....although with the Kenskill, it is a bit hard to tell (still needs to be cleaned)

Yikes ... pulled the Shasta out of the garage and parked it in the vacant lot behind our house. Hopefully it won't become a critter cottage. I threw in some mouse bait poison things so they'll be sad if they do decide to visit!

I use a product called Fresh Cab around my house and garage. It's some kind of balsam fir shavings and other natural deterrents. It has a strong but not unpleasant (to me) smell a bit like cedar...and it seems to do the trick.

I recommend having a cat around. Ours is great about keeping them out of our shed. This is Simon where he frequently sleeps.. right in front of me while I try to work. He may appear very lazy, however we have had zero mice since he came in to our lives a few months ago~ He showed up on our deck one day and never left, he decided he was going to be our cat. Never had a pet pick us before, but I'm glad he did.. He's an awesome cat.

He looks well fed and content. Cool story!
Re: the moth balls. I also heard that they are a bear deterrent so they perform double duty. Except like Brian said, you have to stay in the trailer sometimes. I've seen campground hosts here in Montana lay them around the outside of their trailers.

The Travelo had a couple perfect critter entries when I picked it up, and evidence of chipmunks having wintered in it, since I found nuts scattered throughout the trailer. it has been parked in the side yard for quite some time now. Our cats are all inside cats, but we also put food out for the strays and ferals who are neglected, in our garage, and leave the door up just enough the cats can get under but not the dogs the neighbors let run loose. So far they seem to be earning their keep, because no sign of intruders in the Travelo. I'm testing the dryer sheet theory in the 4 up at the farm, so far so good...

SIMON SEZ... Cat! Very environmentally friendly....
The neighbor's cat, Barney, sleeps in my ex-druggie wagon, the 54 Terry. Not a mouse in the house.
My cat, Mow Mow, oversees every build. She is a meticulous inspector.
