I am hoping that Red Dirt or anyone else could help me with this one. I am installing the new pile weatherstripping on the sides of my Jalousie windows and am having a booger of a time with the final several inches. From Red Dirt's blog on this subject: .....but I do have one Jalousie. Replacing the pile along the edges was really easy, I just grabbed the end with a pair of pliers and pulled; it slid right out. I had to persuade the new pile in with an awl, moving it a few inches at a time, but the new pile went in with little difficulty.Little difficulty? Really?? I must be doing something wrong. Please help with any more tips. Thanks in advance Red Dirt! Jim

;D Kinda holding my feet to the fire eh? Okay, first make sure the rail is clean. As you use an awl to slide the pile in it does get tough toward the end. It's because the pile is binding at the other end. When it starts to bind, go to the other end and push to take the tension off. It should allow you to get the last few inches. I had to work my way up and down the length of the pile to get it to go. If it still won't go, a little lube might persuade it. Hope this isn't too confusing. Let me know how it goes. Red Dirt

Thanks for the quick reply Red Dirt! I will give it a go again in a day or so once I am ready to tolerate the frustration! I wish that the pile weatherstripping wasn't so thick & tall. It is causing the window louvers to bind a bit making it difficult to close the window completely. If I could only figure out a way to shave it down a bit, I think it would work better. Jim

Be sure you have removed the old aluminum track that the old pile sat in. It is pretty small and hard to see. It looked like it was gone in mine, but turned out to still be in there, just all the pile was gone.

After a few times of cranking it in and out, it breaks in. Mine works well now. Good luck. It'll go, helps a little if you cuss a little as you do it. Red Dirt

Problem solved! I was able to go to the hardware store (Wink's Hardware) and I found a pile weatherstrip that is slightly less plush than the pile that VTS sells. This weatherstrip installs much easier and does not cause my window panels to bind when closing. The pile weatherstrip is part number T-8659 and is 1/4" wide by 5/32" high and comes in a bungle 18 feet long. It runs about $5.

How's that price compared to VTS?
