I am wondering if anyone has considered or actually done a conversion on the fixed windows to a jalousie style. Seems to me the opening wouldnt change, and the windows in the rear goucho area appear to be similar in size as the fixed opening... I dont want to bastardize anything but we all know the fixed window design is less than adequate. Any ideas?

If you can locate the correct size window, there shouldn't be any real major issues to replacing the rear window, from a fixed to a jalousie. This was our 1971 Compact original rear window This is after I installed a 1970 Scotty rear window This is our current project, a 1970 Starflyte and it's original rear window I decided to remove it and install two 30" windows, because I couldn't find another 60" Scotty window to use The framing is all done and ready for the windows to be installed

Ross- Those conversions look clean and like the came from the factory that way. Nice. Real nice.
If you put Jalouise windows in the front corners of an Airflyte it would take some reframing and cutting of the aluminum. The windows would really have to be big enough to completely cover the existing openings. Finding two Jalouise windows the same size may be a challenge.
Ross is proof that it can be done and not look like some horrible after thought.

Thank you for the kind words, Brian. I hate it when some people butcher one of these vintage pieces of camping history, thus I try to keep the outside as it should be for the time period in which it was built.
