Does anyone out there have a vin number that is close to mine
C7779
I am in the process of doing the paper work on my 12 footer and think that it's a 1957 but I would like to be sure. I looked behind the mirror, under the sink, nothing that could help was there. I don't have the tri-fold bed with tag in mine.
This site helped me to find both my vin numbers and I will call it a 57 if I have to, but I would really like to get it right if I can.
I went to the Yahoo board but did not want to go through all the junk to register (they want to much info) I think anyway.
thanks all, mautz...

I looked at the Yahoo Shasta group registry database and it looks like your VIN would be in the 1957 model year.

THANKS Jim, That's what I'm going with "1957". I vacuumed it out yesterday all the lower cabinets/counter where the stove was are broke up but the drawers look pretty good. I Think I'll make new face frames and counter top for it I still need to find a stove before I get started. It's also going to need some wood frame work at the lower front area and also just in front of the door.
thanks again, mautz...

I guess I'm in the same "boat" as a lot of others. By the time you buy a vintage trailer the papers are gone as well as the seller's memory. The Shasta we are try to register has been sitting forgotten for years and maybe years. We really think it is late 60's or maybe the early 70's but leaning toward 1969. It is an Airflyte, measures about 14 x 7 1/2. Has wings. The vin on the tongue is P21573. Anyone have a clue how I can be sure of the year before I head to DMV?

I also don't want to go to the Shasta site on Yahoo for the same reason as Mautz, they want too much info and it's a hassle if you don't intend to use it everyday. I have a VIN i'm curious about if anyone who's already a member would care to help me with. Vin: V2467. i'm curious about what year this Shasta was born.

I'm curious what "too much info" means with regard to the Yahoo groups? I'm a member of both, and don't remember their requiring anything other than any board requires, an email address. It does allow people to view your Yahoo profile if you fill one out, but you don't need to.

I would say 1957 and earlier. No wings, but priceless, none the less.

mautz, I have you in my VIN Database and yes, you have a 1957. Just need to know which Shasta you have.
jsr12839, Based on your VIN, you have a Pennsylvania made 1972 Airflyte.
airflyte1959, Your 1959 Airflyte was built in Indiana.
jaceblack, Your VIN is the earliest one that I have logged in. The ads and pictures that I have seen for the 1955 and up, for the 1400's & 1500's, are painted with the famous Z stripe. Yours has never been painted. The VIN's listed below will show you why I believe that you have an early 1955. The 1954 1500's had a smaller front window.
1955 C4014 1500 silverside 1955 C4883 Shasta 1500 1955 C5068 1500 1955 C5079 1500 1956 C6699 ?

Guess not a bad find for $300. We've been wanting a vint trailer for awhile and now something to tow behind the 50' Plym. Much appreciated!

Ross that database is sure impressive and will be a great aid to the new and existing Members! The only thing I like better than making a corect ID is to find out new info that makes me better at not making the same mistake twice...ok, ok maybe making the same mistake the third time would be more accurate...life is a learning curve...

I hear ya. I love learning new things about these vintage gems. The database for the VIN's is proving to be worth the time and effort. I have 167 VIN's so far and it is a great help with identifying the proper years of manufacturing. However, it is sometimes hard doing this, when there are not enough VIN's for a certain year. Time will fix this......LOL
I would like to know when Shasta first started to paint their trailers.
