I just ordered and received mooseattacks Bargman repros and realize I'm going to have to get new backing plates to make them work on my trailer. Can those be purchased....or if not easily made....think I remember a tutorial but ....didn't see it in a quick search I may have never had Bargmans in the first place. The plate on mine says Royal Norton # 5000, made in Chicago. Screw holes fit original holes. Has two bulbs. The holes for the Bargman, don't quite line up to the original holes. So my question.... should I change them out or keep what i have? As you can see in the pic the casing that would show is a dull pewter color (not aluminum) would prefer aluminum. Attachments:

I would keep those. Nothing wrong with them. There are large holes in the skin that the cans sit in correct? Bargman 99s sit flush so there might be some problems with fit there.
If they are serviceable there isn't a reason to fix what ain't broke.
VTS does sell 99 backing plates for 40 (or something like that) and they sell the whole assembly for 50 bucks.

Yeah, I made mine out of paint can lids...
The "cans" above look to be inset. The Bargman 99 plates will definitely need to be well sealed if the body has a hole for the original cans.

yeah there is a hole in the body for the original cans...so I'm going to stick with them. put butyl tape behind the the lip. And keep my fingers crossed.

I dislike those holes... Oasis are notorious for leaky tail lights and rotted back ends...
That being said, Canasta didn't have tail light holes but her butt was definitely very rotten. Go figure. LOL!

Well I"m really gonna keep my fingers crossed. Maybe I'll do some putty tape inside and outside!
