Help! I ma trying to install new pile weather striping on my jalousie windows and I cant get the pile to wiggle past the fist pane of glass. Is there a way to remove or loosen the glass without taking the whole window apart?

HI Jim, That sounds alot like my experience with the VTS weatherstripping. I only have half a window done and I am kinda figuring that at this rate I may have em finished by christmas! Also I am finding that I rally have to crank down hard on the windows which makes me a little nervous as they are not young windows, plus I want them to shut. Also they work great and I dont want to make all the mechanisms loose by grinding them shut.
Installation is simple, but there is a trick to it. Remove the existing worn out pile by sliding the metal backing splines out the bottom end of the tracks. Slide the new spline in from the bottom as far as you can. Then continue to push up from the bottom as you wiggle the window glass open and closed repeatedly. This allows the pile to pass by each pane of glass as you install it.
HI Jim , I took your advice and got the 1/4 x 5/32 pile strip from my hardware store. What a difference. Instead of taking over an hour to put on a strip of it it took about 5 minutes! Also the windows close much nicer. So again thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
