Earlier in this project you mentioned the back panel being buckled. I realized after removing my rear skin and taking some measurements, that after the rear and side rear lower wall supports rotted away the entire rear dropped a good 1 1/2 inches causing the rear skin to curl up where it came to rest on the bumper supports. Jacking up the whole back of the camper was an adventure.

So unlike everyone else who has been working hard at their trailer. mine has just been sitting. decided tonight to give it a cleaning (having sat since spring dust/dirt etc settles). Once that was done i sorted a few things in preparation for fall camping. If you read through this entire post you know that when i redid the trailer i redid ALL the lights, brand new lights, brand new wires, everything new. It all worked great until i went to pull it out for the first trip. Sometime between installing the lights and installing the panels inside i shorted something out and at first ALL lights did not work. We were able to rig it so that the tail lights and turn signals worked so it was legal but all my clearance lights have not worked since. So tonight i started to trace wires. I had thought i rewired it the same that it was, turns out i didnt. BUT it took me taking out part of a roof panel over the closet, the front upper panels, the kitchen cabinet and paneling next to the door to discover i didnt do what i thought i did last year. Its a long story and a waste of half the night to figure out im a moron. On the bright side i know know that the clearance lights that are causing the short are the rear ones.... on the dark side i will have to pull my bunk and the top rear panel out to get to the wiring. i HOPE HOPE HOPE its one of the 5 rear ones and not one of the side lights (Cause those would be so much more of a pain) Good news is i think the trailer is about ready, seems like its just as good as when we parked it (thanks to that awesome Shasta port it sits under) And like a car with scratches the monsoon we were caught in for 24 hours straight in March that water stained my brand new paneling now doesn't seem like as big of a deal. Photo with this post is of how far i tore it down tonight for no reason..... ugh.... Attachments:

Thanks Ross. I agree. The ones that came on it were like that but faded busted or missing. I have not seen them lit up since last October.... they were missed....

Great news everyone! All my lights work again. I pulled out my bunk which required some un-wiring, pulled the rear wood panels and insulation to inspect my wiring. Everything looked find. Hooked the truck up, still blew the fuse. Attachments:

The next thing to try was to trouble shoot the lights. Turns out it was the first light i checked... the street side side marker light. I knew this because once it was disconnected the other 6 lights worked just fine. Attachments:

Digging into this light more i discovered that the upper screw in the wing had pierced the hot wire dead center. Attachments:

Taped the wire up and carefully put the wing back on, this time without piercing the wire. Turned the lights on an its all good to go. All 16 lights in their glorious glow. It was a great night. Of course now i have to reassemble the inside rear of the trailer again. Attachments:

As of tonight my trailer is back together and ready to camp. And this time when it gets towed there, all the lights will work for the first time since I have owned it. Likely the first time in many years since the lights were rusted and busted originals when I bought it.
Feeling pretty accomplished tonight.

Hamlet, not just yet. My wife is working on some brand new cushions (even though the ones in there were pretty new themselves) She has added 2" memory foam on top of the existing cushions so when were sleeping you don't feel the hard wood below... i told her that's not real camping but then once i laid on it, it was pretty nice. They will be the same colors, black with the red stripes like the old ones. I think she will have them done this week. I have never taken photos because i never really finished the woodwork in the kitchen area. Partly because im not sure how to do it "good" and don't want to waste my time and materials, partly because i have some back issues and haven't felt good enough, partly because its just too hot in the summer for me to care about anything outside . All excuses aside though i was planning to take "staged" photos at this years little rally next month. usually when we camp the trailer isn't really photo ready. its never cute and neat like some folks always seems to look. There's always stuff on the table, counter etc etc. We are going to intentionally clean it up while camping and take some photos this time. You are not the first to ask believe me, and i never intended for it to be over a year before taking the photos... i guess life just happens.

"Staged" photos are just fine! Although we try to keep Hamlet neat while camping (because there is always someone stopping by for a look), it's darn hard in NW rain and with two medium-sized dogs. And those wet towels have to go somewhere! Good work on the new cushions. You certainly won't regret the extra comfort. After all the years we spent backpacking and tent camping, we are absolutely unapologetic about our 6" upholstery-grade cushions. In fact, it's more comfortable than our bed at home!

Thank you teryleavell, it looked better in my head than in my hands but it turned out OK. I always wonder if everyone else notices mistakes etc or if its just me because i did it.
I suspect Hamlet get alot more attention than our trailer, he's really nice. We do get some attention. Seems like every campground, every gas station people get excited to talk and see it. Someone they knew had it or they had one years ago. I feel bad though like im just spreading the vintage trailer disease though.....
The new cushions are impressive to say the least, just enough to sleep nicer. She noted once they were installed that her curtains are now technically too long (go behind the cushions) so she has put some thought into either re-making the curtains or modifying the current ones (my choice is just leave them but.... i probably will loose that battle, rather will not join that fight) I have some photos of the before/after ill post. I have been slacking.
The McKinney rally is next weekend, we have been busy trying to get some things together for the staging. I intend to take photos of it with and without the props. Still never finished all the paneling/trim on the kitchen front/drawers and doors but.... you just cant rush into those things.

Here is a shot of the old cushions (grey/red on the top) and the new cushions (black/red on the bottom). This photo was taken before the zippers were in the new cushions so the fabric looks a little loose. We kept the stripes in the same locations. The cushions that came with the trailer (grey/red) were ok but you could feel the wood through them when you laid in certain positions. They were also one piece hinged. The new ones are 2 separate parts, back and bench. Attachments:

And here is a shot of one of the cushions in the trailer. The red stripe continues up over the top, the curtains black stripe at the bottom is hiding it. Attachments:

So awesome! It was even better seeing it in person. Mrs. Offspringin had the best vintage inspired outfit! It was beautifully designed and sewn and coordinated perfectly with the decor. So fun!!

With your busy camping schedule, do you find time to make it to any college football games? I'm just taking a wild guess, but by the color scheme I'd say you root for the Dawgs. Looks great!

You have done a wonderful job, and the coordination with the outfit is delightful. Do you have a shirt and tie to match?

Thanks Callie. I agree that the pictures are not the same but they will have to do. Glad you made the tour, wish you had been able to camp with us. Jess worked for a while to get all the table cloths, napkins, apron etc etc completed. (though it seemed really quick to me)

We have only been to one game in person but try to watch them all (even when camping sometimes). We don't have cable at the house so we don't always get to watch every game even when we are home. Then there are some games we don't want to see like the one against SC last weekend (10/6/12)
