We finished the winter storage area for the Compact on the side of the house. We had a large tree and stump removed and then had several yards of gravel delivered after leveling out the area. The widest area where the gravel is (on the back side of the chimney) is 10.5 wide by 18 long. So thinking we can go with a 10 x 18 x 8 ft high portable carport. Attachments:

This is one I'm considering. Has anyone dealt with this company? It's www.carport.com and they own Elephant Structures. You can build your carport on their site and get a price right then. This one would be like I said 10 x 18 x 8 ft high. The price would be $1,095 delivered AND installed. So far it's the cheapest I've found. Attachments:

I went with Carolina Carports, mine is 18x21 with 7 foot sides, (slopes up real quick on the ends) and is 9.5 feet in the center. it was right at $865.00 they are out of Carolina but they service several states, I checked and they cover Michigan and Ohio I know it is to big for you but with a call you might find out if they make them a bit smaller. looks like a better deal, it will cost you $20.00 more but you get a 12x21 x7 feet tall, thats how tall mine is, (if you are in Ohio it is a couple hundred cheaper) so if you are barely in Mich. they might cut you a deal. $20 for an extra 2 feet of width and 3 feet of length! here is a pic of mine

Thanks so much! I'll check them out. Do they include installation or did you have to install it yourself? I measured the Compact and it seems to be appx 7.5 feet tall. When they give you a height on these say 8 feet tall, is that the height of the side steel poles and not including the roof height? Sounds like it is the way you describe yours. I wonder if I could get away with a 7 or 7.5 foot "side" height and then still have enough height for the trailer because of the interior roof height?

Do your homework! Be very careful about permits and city/HOA rules. Both my cousin and I had to take our portable shelters down due to rule and permit issues....

Universal, they quoted me for a 10 x 16 x 8 ft high one; $1175 + sales tax ): They are higher than Elephant Stuctures (www.carport.com). So the search continues.

vikx, your township doesn't allow portable units? Ours can't be a permanent structure but since it's considered portable it should be fine.

hay, mine has only 7 foot sides, I doubler checked my receipts, so that would save you $60.00 and my camper is 3 inches or so taller than most, (axle under springs with 2 springs removed)
although the sides are only 7 feet it ramps up quicky to 8 feet. I have plent of room over the camper as well, I could pull mine up to within 6 inches of the side of the carport if I wanted, ( I considered doing that) to see if I could fit my car trailer beside it to keep them both out of the weather since it is 18 feet wide.
