For all of you who went to the Mckinney camp out (or are wishing you had) lets do it again in the spring. The Mckinney campout started with Harrison429 "just wanting to go camping" and turned into a super great weekend. I know some of the Florida folks felt left out. I don't know if the turn out will be as big as Mckinney BUT if there are other Shasta Forum members who would like to camp anytime during the week of March 3rd-11th you will not be alone (assuming you camp where we are camping) March 3rd-7th we will be at Stephen C Foster State Park, located in Fargo, GA. gastateparks.org/StephenCFosterWe will be checking out on the 7th and driving to FL March 7th-11th we will be at Manatee Springs State Park in Chiefland, FL www.floridastateparks.org/manateesprings/If you don't have the time to camp during the week then please join us on the weekends, if you have the time stay during the week then your just as welcome. These timings worked for us so if you can join the more the merrier. I know space is limited at both of these campgrounds so i would suggest booking soon if you think you can make it. IF this turns into a trip where we get enough folks coming we can do the potluck dinner deal, tour etc etc that the Mckinney crew did. Lets make another great camp out or two happen.

We went to the Melbourne, Fl. event this weekend and had a blast!!!
jmreed organized it and he and many others that attended are interested in a Fl/Ga camping group.
I'm planning on going to your gathering at Manatee Springs in March. I'm sure there will be several other Florida folks on board soon.

Have you been to Manatee Springs in early March before? Just wondering what the weather would be like.

Anybody else on the fence or looking into coming? Just curious Consider us (Clayton and Katstar) on the fence for the Georgia portion of your trip. I have family in Valdosta that we should visit... so I'm thinking the stars are aligning. Clayton

Yep, we're definitely looking into it but we'd only be able to do a portion of your trip and at the moment I can't decide which I like better. Maybe finding out when spring break is will help with the decision...

The mac n cheese has been posted. It might be even better when the rest of you make it because I realized that I cooked mine on high when it clearly says to cook on low. LOL

We are on the fence for Florida. The clear springs appeal to me more than the gater swamp :-D. What site have you reserved? I think by March we will need a break from the cold weather.

We're considering the FL portion of the trip too but we simply can't make plans right now. I fear by the time we know for sure it will be too late. Currently there are only a few sites left around yours offspringin. The park looks beautiful...

We are also on the fence for the FL portion, Fri & Sat nights. Manatee Springs is great that time of year! Won't be able to firm up plans until after the 1st of the year.

We're too late . Everything at Manatee is booked up except for 2 sites which are walk-up only (no reservations). I was suprised that the Florida park only charges $20.00 per night. Georgia parks are so much more.

I just checked on sites at both Manatee Springs and Stephen C Foster and looks Manatee remains booked solid.
HOWEVER it appears there is still room at Stephen C Foster currently showing 27 open sites, 9-25ft, 11-40ft, and 7-50+ft
If anyone is interested i joining you still have the shot to do so.
Im going to PM a couple people in this thread who were on the fence and see if they ever made reservations or may still be deciding about Stephen Foster.

As of about 4pm this afternoon there were 2 sites open (and reserve-able) at manatee springs if you wanted to come in Tuesday and check out Sunday. Just a thought if anyone was interested in coming but the sites were booked for my original dates

I live 3 1/2 hours from Chiefland. I guess you all won't be too hard to find if I decide to drive up there for the day on of those days?? Ive driven through Chiefland many times on the way to Tallahassee where my son lives, and have never stopped at that park. What a cool chance this would be to meet some of you and see your Shastas in person!

Back from our trip, had a lot of fun, weather was great for the most part. (24hour monsoon showed me there's still a leak somewhere and now i have some watermarks on my brand new birch, at least i know the wood behind is good since it was just replaced ) We practically owned Stephen Foster having been one of only 5-12 campers there. Manatee springs was packed out but a ton of fun too. Dianemayes (^^^ earlier responder) made it for the whole time at Manatee Springs and we had a great time getting to know them. It was nice to have some great folks with a great vintage Shasta to hang out with. (we already talked about when we can meet up again) Ill post some pictures, likely tomorrow.

So jealous. Although I'm still trailer-less and we're not heading down to Florida until month-end, with all the other Illinois spring-breakers. It could be worse - it could be Easter week, I guess. Hopefully next year I'll my joining some of these camp outs.
