I am going Friday afternoon to try and register and get tags for it in Florida. I researched the law and called the state office to find out what I needed because the local office gave me all the wrong info. Seems that Florida does not title "travel trailers" - small campers weighing less than 2000 lbs. They just tag them -- and of course, tax them. The camper I bought does not have a title -- but I do have the bill of sale and a certified weight slip so I SHOULD be ok but who knows!
Has anyone had an experience getting a tag for a camper in FL?

Sorry, I don't have any experiance in Florida. Just wanted to wish you luck. Anyone going to the DMV could use some luck.
I am surprised though. It is almost the opposite here in WI. You can title a small trailer but anything under 3K lbs doesn't require a plate. Of course if we go out of state I will probably get one.
Not to hijack your thread. I just find the differences interesting.

Please post to let us know how this turns out.
I just talked to our local office today (Columbia County, FL) because I was considering buying a camper with no title from Georgia.
They said it was not a problem I just needed a bill of sale and the most recent registration info from the previous owner.

Well, I called Tallahassee BEFORE driving 2900 miles to pick up my Shasta baby with the understanding that I only needed a Bill of Sale. After 45 minutes arguing and looking at the statutes, it appears that I need a bill of sale and registration if there is not title. Now I need to get a registration or title from the seller. He is going to go to his local DMV in Michigan to see what he can get. Problem is he never registered the camper before selling it to me. So I am hoping he will be able to get one now.

Registered my shasta today -- cost $200 for tag & title fee. All they needed was the title from Michigan.
