pretty interesting. How much did they knock you for the spray job. I gotta think it will help with leak proofing as well. BTW that avatar pic of yours has gone too far!

To Quote Ferris Bueller "A: you can never go too far, B: If I'm gonna get busted, it is *not* gonna be by a guy like *that*."
The guy is a buddy of mine, I use him on remodels, it was $0.50 a square foot because I knocked it down and shaped it myself, otherwise his price is $1.25 a stroke. He had 215 strokes on mine

Just what the estimated R-value is for that thickness of foam? I was thinking of using a heavy mil water barrier under the skin if I restore one. I'm also from new home construction. Now I'm surviving in commercial. I find the Cutter avatar battle entertaining. We will have to keep updating them with new ones.

The R-value is 6 per inch of thickness. My main motivations for using spray foam are-
1) structural strength 2) sound proofing 3) water barrier 4) Complete even coverage, using foam board you have to notch or cut around wires, and this is bonded to the frame so its air tight!
Once I saw your avatar I was already looking for a updated one!

Even at his full price that's less than $300....not bad. Schweet you are pushing all of us to consider new options!

I had to do it, the receipt file was getting out of hand. It took me well over an hour to add up all the receipts and including the initial investment I have spent right around $6500.00...Ouch! Whats really sad is except some welding and spray foam I have done all the work myself and that figure doesn't even take into account my labor.

Door looks great. For some reason that was one of my favorite things to do it mine. It was just so simple and straightforward. Plus it makes a huge impact once you get that nice new door hung on the trailer. Its nuts... and I am not suprised at all by the figure you are up to... plus you are putting new skin on right!? I hit the 6 grand mark and stopped counting. Then I added the three storage tanks, hot water heater, and shower . I did have one advantage. All of the wood for my framing I got for free. its only Pine but every little bit counts. I think I am going to do the spray insulation method you did on my Airflyte once I get to working on it... you know my ORIGINAL Airflyte . OF course I am sure I will put a full bathroom in that one too. So whats your timing on the exterior work... looking forward to seeing it.

Tyler, the company fabricating my skin is about a week out, I am just waiting on some $$, jobs to finish etc.
The sad part about my figures is all the expensive stuff is coming up, Skin, Wings, Lighting, Wings. Upholstery, Wings. Paint, did I mention WINGS!

The wings are iconic, and I was a little concerned that ours might get torn off by some kid wanting a status symbol, like they did with the Mercedes hood ornaments back in the '80s. But then I realized that a homie would look really dumb with a giant wing hanging from a chain around his neck.

Who's doing your skin? Are you having it fabricated with a 6" run? I got quote from all-rite but wanted to get another for a different vendor. I'm finding most places can't do a 6" run on automated equipment. All-rite had a 20 foot brake the could do the large panels by hand.
thanks

Sorry I missed this. Your doing a great job! The cabinetry is superb! I really dig the rounded corners. Was it expensive to have those corners machined?

Smccusk-I'll let you know in a couple of days, we have a local company that has told me on numerous occasions that they can do it, but other VSTF members I sent have told me they can't, we'll see when I take a piece in for them to match up! If not I'm in trouble!
Flyingham-thanks, your very well documented thread made it possible, in fact I used one of your pictures when I built the frame to figure out the the front curve and roof slope!
The corners wern't the expensive part, it was the set up, I think I paid 200.00 for 60 l/f of them and $125 was just the setup charge!

Those corners just seemed to make a huge difference. I really like them. Im right there with you guys. I'm sure I'm over 6k, maybe 7k by now. I don't regret it...

Looks great for an amputee! Keep up the good work. That thing will be a lot easier to tow. X2 on the cabinet corners!

Somehow, "amputee" seems a bit derogatory... Perhaps chopper is a better description...
You are right on, kto17! Great trailer.

So by my count from this quote you want 4 sets.... no problem, but sure its going to cost you a few bucks extra:).
Are you making a new roof? I would highly recommend it. Get away from the individual panels that they used and make a solid roof... worked out well for me.

Schweet, Keep us posted on the skin progress. We are six months out on the '65 and that is just about our last big question.
